I agree that if the JOhnson team keeps on winning there may be alot of people that will wonder just what kind of engine he is running under that hood. For some reason he has a better running car then any of the other hendricks cars and its not fair to anyone else.

I have been a nascar fan for over forty years and its gotton so bad with brian france’s brain storms racing is no longer fun to watch. they now need to change the name to Hendrick Nascar. balance is so far off i guess when they got jr nascar gave them there own rule book.They have done a great job of running people off. Someday they will consider where the money came from to make them rich.

Watching the race on sunday, I was yelling and yes praying, that somehow Jeff, Mark anyone else win. Its going to be the last year I watch if he wins. I am a fan of so many, that I do not get how he wins, over and over. Chandra, needs to gain weight, she looks like an anorexic on camera as of late…..

LOL, I am glad I was not the only one hoping someone would take johnson out of the race. Every time the 77 car came close to the 48 I prayed sam would do him in. I am not saying anything bad about Sam just his luck this year has been worse then Dale Jr. Every time I prayed someone would take the 48 team out my Driver would get taken out so I just turned off and refused to watch. And no my driver is NOT the 42 car, as far as I am concerned he never should have been allowed into NASCAR. Tony Stewart RULES …… Happy Thanksgivening everyone…….

I am SICK of the JIMMIE JOHNSON SHOW!! There are 42 other guys out there. Come on let someone else have a try! Give me a break, I am a Dale Jr. fan and I don’t even think that way. Jimmy and Chad earned what they have received, by working as a team. No one would ever say that about Dale Earnhardt or Richard Petty because they won 7 championships which no other driver has done in NASCAR history. I have 2 drivers that I want to win the championship Jimmy is one of those drivers and Mark Martin is the other drivers cause hew does not even have one championship under his belt. Nothing was ever said about Kyle Busch about winning to many races was bad for NASCAR, he got to big for his britches and the true driver came out in him, hello he did not win a championship because it went too much to his head. I can’t believe that this would even be said about Jimmy Johnson, I would never stop going to or watching races because he received 4 in a row, it would just make cheer Dale Jr. on even more, Dale’s year will be next year and he too will get a championship under his belt. Go Dale Jr. Go!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m a Jimmie Johnson fan, just you know where I’m coming from. I thought excellence was the point of sports. Did you hate Michael Phelps for winning so many gold medals? Did you think it wasn’t fair and he should have “let someone else” have some of them because they were nice guys and deserved them?” Geez, Susan, is that how you would pick winners? I’ve only been a Nascar fan for 5-6 years. I’m really tired of seeing JJ win all the time and really tired of hearing how great JJ and Chad are. It’s a continuous thing every race-HERE COMES JIMMIE AND IF HE GETS OUT FRONT-HE’S GONE!!!!! I’m not a Montoya or Martin fan, but I would just like to see more excitement like we used to see on the track. As long as it isn’t Kyle Busch’s big-mouth teammate Denny Hamlin…I am so sick of him badmouthing Brad Keselowski. I cheer whenever he gets wrecked, just like I do whenever Kyle gets wrecked. Actually, I think it will be great if Smoke wins the Cup his first season as a team owner, or if Juan Pablo wins because he is a good driver; he has proven himself this year. I am partial to Chevy so hope it’s one of the Chevy drivers (Chevy already has the manufacturer’s championship for, what is it, 33 times?) Sometimes I think Chad is doing something sneaky…I used to call him Cheatin’ Chad; he has gotten caught before and he might get caught again; championships should not be won by cheating. All you Jimmie fans, I am not saying that he IS, but history does repeat itself at times. I am disappointed Jr. has had such a lousy season and hopefully he will do better next year.

I’ve been a NASCAR fan for over 35 years now and am sick of the whining…Not Denny or Kyle or Brian…IT’S THE FANS!!! Nothing is “fixed” folks. The racing is closer than ever. Anybody remember the days when the winner was 3 laps ahead of 2nd place? I loved those days…Racing was simple, raw, unadulterated…But this is a new age in sports and if NASCAR wants to survive it must follow the times…I don’t like the COT,all the new rules,the new attitude,or change in general. But I pulled up my big boy undies and dealt with it…Cuz no matter the politics, I’m focused on turning left and rubbin door handles at 200 mph. Just chill and enjoy the show folks. Nascar simply cannot be considered a sport. The governing body works round the clock to “manage” the racing. Can anybody out there look me in the eye and tell me that all those late race cautions are real? It has begun to look more and more like a third class school play.

And what about Dale? In his entire career he hasn’t had this many DNF’s Are you going to tell me that he is racing with the same caliber of equipment as JJ and Mark?

Nascar was built on the backs of the fans. Over the years it has been well documented that a NASCAR sponsership would virtually guarantee your products immediate success because the fans were so loyal. Nascar rewarded us by reducing the seat size at tracks to the point
a pidgeon couldn’t sit on one. And the ticket prices are out of this world, well beyond the ability of most people to purchase them. Greed has won out here and they can stick the “chase” where the sun don’t shine. And the rest of the “racing” too. Sorry about t5his long comment, but I got started and it got to gettin good to me.

To be honest I just want Dale Jr to have a streak of GOOD luck………..he’s been gaining and along comes Mr. 00 , a lugnut and Mr. 19 to ruin his day.
Jimmie Johnson is doing great and a lot of it has to do with his Brainiac crew chief…the guy is some kind of wizard or something.
Actually I think the chase is a waste. All those guys below 12th can’t really get any higher no matter how good they do. The chase could be hurting NASCAR more than anything else is. Sure the fans of 12 drivers love the chase but the fans of the lower half (actually more than half) may not care for it.
Sure looked like a lot of empty seats in the stands lately. It’s kinda sad.

I Love Dale, Jr., but of course he is not in the chase. I say good for Jimmie and Chad if they can pull it off. I’m sure all the teams cheat but if they are cheating Chad has it mastered. I don’t think there’s anything but magic between the 2 of them and being able to know what the car needs to git-r-done. The France camp has pulled everything else to supposedly keep up the competitive edge so why not separate the 2 of them?

I love Junior, but as far as the same equipment as JJ and Mark, I think Jr. has the same stuff as the others, but he just has SHI- for luck, in the last couple of races, he would have finished in the top 5 or 10 if Rutti and Elliott had not wrecked him.

Marie, I agree, as long as it’s not Denny Hamlin or Kyle Busch. I’m also sick and tired of Hamlin running his mouth about Brad. In the interview Saturday, he was whinning about Brad wrecking him, Brad did not touch him, he’s also mouthing off about Brad not being a good driver, I think Brad is better driver than him anyday. No wonder Denny has such bad luck, he brings it on bad mouthing somebody. I was thrilled when he wrecked Saturday and Sunday, shows what kind of driver he really is, Mr. Joe Gibbs needs to sit those two boys down and teach them a thing or too if they continue to drive for him. My driver is in the chase but due to rotten luck, he’s 11th (KASEY KAHNE). First chase race, the engine (crankshaft) goes. Then this week KURT (#2) cannot control his car as he should and sends Kasey into grass. Kasey was in the top 10 at that point. Then after his crew gets the repairs done, another huge pile-up and Kasey totals his car. But when my guy cannot win, I pull for #48, #24, and #18. I only hope JJ wins that 4th straight title to set a new record. Jeff Gordon SHARES the owner-ship of #48 with Hendrick who deserves every win he gets. Don’t think you are a true NASCAR fan if you give it up over JJ winning again. A true fan stays with the races forever. I have been with them since 1950′s when my dad took me to the Daytona race on the beach. I am 71 this year and love the races (both in person and on TV). Some stands may look empty but for the most part, the tracks are full or near-full. When JJ wins, we will miss you foolish, almost-fans. GO JJ, JEFF, KYLE and KASEY!!!!!!!

Back when Earnhardt Sr was racing…now that was racing. Today they have woosed it down…you might as well let girls drive the cars. Racing is not what it was….no wonder the popularity has gone down the tubes. I can understand the safety issues…but let the guys race like racing should be…WIN THE RACE NO MATTER WHAT! I just watched This Week in NASCAR. Richard Petty was there. They were talking about a Charlotte race he won where he was a complete lap ahead of anyone else. And racing with David Pearson. Richard said they raced approximately 60 times together when they finished 1, 2. No one else but them won during that period of time. Doesn’t sound like the good old days were so good to me. That sounds like boring racing.

Chad Knaus is a cheater and has been caught 11 times. this last time he had an illegal car but decided not to penalize him because of the chase. Every time JJ goes out in that 48 car it is illegal.They have put him on a pedestal and everything goes to his head. I am a Jr. fan and have always been.

I can’t belive nobody has talked about this. but I guess I will. what nascar really needs to do is put a road course in the chase. the chase right now looks easy. but if you add a road course to the chase, then the chase will be a tough chase race. by the way for some people that don’t know, Jimmie Johnson is not good at road courses. I don’t hate Jimmie Johnson, but I’m tired of him winning the cup. I really want to see Mark Martin win the chase, if not then go Jeff Gordon. for 2009. What is wrong with people, when Dale Earnhardt Sr, was winning all those races and trophies, everything was peachie, but because it is Jimmie Johnson, now everybody is in a snit, I like Jimmie J. but he is not my favorite race driver, its just a good streak and talent, but just like anything else, it will run its course. As far as Dale Sr. he is one of the best and he deserved the wins and the attention. Thats the sport, you have ups and downs and Jimmie is on an up, but someone will come along and take his place when the time is right. Don’t kick somebody because he is good. If you can’t see that, then you are not a true Nascar Sprint Cup die hard fan.

As a nascar fan from England who also watches F1 i’d just like to add that this kind of domination of the sport happens quite a bit in F1. In 1989 Maclaren won 15 out of 16 races with Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna sharing the wins,a few years later it was Ferrari with a certain Mr Schmacher,going back a bit further it was Williams.So you see this isn’t unusual,who knows in a few years time we might all be moaning that a Roush/Evernham/ Childress car is winning all the time. I don’t know if there is a maximum budget for teams as there is in F1 but I would imagine that Hendricks budget must be one of the biggest in the sport so it follows that the more money you have,the better results you will have. Just a thought anyway.

Last time I looked the point of racing in NASCAR was to win. That is what Jimmie is doing and everyone wants him to stop. Don’t understand that logic. Maybe everyone should just quit complaining about Jimmie winning and start wishing their driver could keep up with that 48 team. Tell me – what should Jimmie do? Just let another driver win. Yes he is strugling now,but he will prevail.I am also a Mark Martin fan forever The best thing that could ever happen to Nascar is for Mark Martin to win the title. There is nobody else even close, that commands and gives the respect that he has and gives to his fellow drivers.Thank God he did not retire, for if he did Nascar would surely flounder.He is a TRUE racer .It is he and not JJ or Kyle that is carrying Nascar on his back.Just think about it and I am sure you will agree. I know each and every week, the drivers put their life on the line, that is what they choose to do, they get paid big, big, bucks, but it is awful to pay a minimum of $125.00+ per ticket to a race. We usually go to the race in Las Vegas and that is what the tickets are, we don’t have to pay that the casino does but NASCAR has got to wake up, an ordinary person can’t pay that, in the Earnhardt Grandstand, when it first opened, the tickets were like $333.00, I’m sure they are more now. Chad and Jimmie are a great match, everything is clicking for them and Mr. Rick gives all those teams everything they need, if they don’t win, Mr. H wants to know why, they have the best of the best, that is why he put Lance McGrew with Jr., they are getting him straightened out, he is running better and hopefully 2010 he will be where Chad and Jimmie are, up front.

I thought with the COT the cars were to be basically the same. I realize they make adjustments to make them turn better etc. I imagine that the adjustments would be different for each driver as they don’t all drive the same or like the same setups. I would like to see them go back to the old car but with the safety features. I am tired of seeing the same drivers running up front all the time. I guess that is why the big roars when Jr leads as it doesn’t happen all the time. I don’t like a race where over half the field gets lapped. To me it’s not a race anymore, expecially when there are only 10 cars on the lead lap. The non chase drivers shouldn’t have to drive any different than they do before the chase starts but Nascar seems to think otherwise. I hope someone else wins besides Jimmy but I would prefer him to Hamlin, Vickers or Montoya. As far as I am concerned Mark Martin retired so he shouldn’t win either. I would really like to see Ryan Newman win the chase but I don’t think it’s possible now.

My, oh, my. It is amazing to me that all of you self proclaimed NASCAR fans from back in the day are so narrow minded and obviously suffer so acutely from tunnel vision that if Jimmie Johnston wins the championship this year you can state you’re all done with attending or watching NASCAR races.

I guess you don’t give a whit for NASCAR history in the making. You’d rather spill your beer while jumping up to cheer when Kyle Busch hits the wall or grunt and boo if Juan Pablo Montoya is running out front. Perhaps WWF is more suited to your tastes. Nothing phony in those rings, eh?

If you think NASCAR is not watching Jimmie and Chad with a microscope, you’re dead wrong. NASCAR doesn’t care who wins or how often… only that the rules are followed to the letter.

Jimmie Johnston is one hell of a race car driver. Chad Knaus is one hell of a crew chief. Period.

I’m a die-hard Junior fan… but if it’s not going to be the 88 that drifts over the finish line at the end of the day… I’ll gladly cheer on any of the other Hendrick’s boys.

Let’s face it… if the 48 wins the championship this time around it will be a feat that will be hard to beat in the next hundred years or so. And THAT, my friends, is what NASCAR racing is all about. If you don’t think that’s exciting, you cannot in all honesty call yourself a fan of auto racing.

I’m not done with NASCAR if Jimmy wins. I really don’t care who wins the chase, I don’t much care for the idea of “the chase”. It’s just not as exciting as back in the day when the whole field is racing for important points.
As for the COT………ANY safety changes are good but something was taken away when they brought out the COT. Why did it come on the scene anyway? Hopefully NASCAR will listen to the drivers and the fans before it’s too late.

Dale Jr is my Main Man on the track. He is why I watch but I don’t hold anything against the other drivers.I will just be glad to see him get back to where he wants to be and win a few. He’s more than paid his dues. Just needs a little good luck now. If Jimmie wins..good for him, if Mark wins good for him, if Jeff wins good for him etc….. As far as sharing information.just how is that done, do the crew chiefs get together and discuss what they have discovered works best or do the drivers pass it on or does Rick Hendricks? It amazes me that some of you people think that JJ and Chad are being allowed to cheat so that JJ can make it four in a row to set a new record. As far as cheating goes, I think it’s true that almost all the teams are cheating as much as possible without getting caught. If you really think NASCAR has gotten so bad, find yourself another sport to follow. Otherwise, “STOP YOUR WHINNING”. Geez, start acting like adults and stop setting such a bad example for the younguns that are starting to follow NASCAR. JJ wins this year and Mark wins next year. I’m happy with that. I think its funny how martins car was so good during the season and jimmies layed back a litte, and now it is the opposite. And you cant seariously say he and hiscar are that much better than everyone else. It is rigged, it is boring, Its like watching the yankees win the world series every year. I totally agree with you Scott Gibb. I can’t stand the 42 and hope he hits the wall with every race. Now I don’t want him hurt, just out of the race. I am a HUGE JJ fan and I am so elated to see him going for a record 4 Championships in a row. It baffles me how so many people are haters when people win. They did the same thing when Jeff Gordan was winning quite often, they all jumped on the haters team. I understand the questions people have on how this team keeps winning, but haven’t you heard the old saying “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it”. JJ and his team put in just as much effort and hard work as any other team in NASCAR. This is a sport to celebrate wins, not hate them. If you all don’t want to watch once JJ wins again, that is good, there are plenty of people out there that become fans every single day!

Jimmy is a good driver and he is a teamate of Junior’s, but I have to say that it does get a little boring for NASCAR fans to see either Jimmy or Mark out there every weekend. I would like to see a point system that is a little more exciting where the points change weekly and more drivers have a better chance to win races. That in itself would bring more fans back and sell more tickets at the tracks.

Well BJB….Petty and the good ole boys weren’t driving spec COT cars like they are today. The manufacturer with the best body style won the races.
With the COT, Spec, IROC, or whatever you want to call it was supposed to tighten up the racing. With the likes of Gibbs, Roush, RCR, and ganassi….how the hell could one team owner get 4 consecutive Championships with one team much less have all his cars in the top 5.
Hendrick is a convicted felon and cheating is not uncommon for his MO.

The 48 team is cheating. Only the most gullible and blind among us believe otherwise. Their success at cheating continues to stink up the show week in and week out. Whether or not that is good for NASCAR remains to be seen, but as for me, I have plenty of other things to do on Sunday besides watching the same team cheat and win week after week. When they stand there with their smug, confident smirk, and tell me it’s because of “team chemistry” and “hard work” and “the best equipment”, it only insults my intelligence. I hate how the media keeps saying that Earnheart, Petty or Gordon has never won 4 in a row. In my opinion, they can’t be compared because they raced under different points systems. If Earnhart had raced under the new point system, he would probably have won 4 in a row (I’m not a Earnhart fan). If Jimmie had been racing under the old system he wouldn’t have won 4 in a row. I’m not trying to diminish what he’s done – he’s a good driver but he shouldn’t be compared to drivers who drove under the old system. I used to like Jimmie but the last three years, he’s become annoying. Anyhow – congrats Jimmie – enjoy your last championship.

Almost forgot to answer the question. Yes, I think Jimmie’s 4th championship will be bad for NASCAR. Many people will stop watching NASCAR. Sometimes, I just want to turn off the tv because I’m so mad that Jimmie has won again. I’m a Jeff Gordon fan so I will always watch the races to cheer him on. I heard a funny quote by Jeff about Jimmie during this weeks race – “What the f*** does he want?”

The reason Jimmy wins is the last 10 races favor him as the best driver. Gordon would have walked to two championships in 2004, and 2007. And who knows about the the other seasons. Gordon has finished 2nd, 3rd 3 times just behind Jimmy now because the last 10 races are statistically bad for him.

They changed the format in part because Gordon was so dominating. It’s likely they will change it again because Johnson is so dominating.

Anyway you slice it…Hendrick is winning. Gordon was ahead by a million points in 2007, nothing he could do because the last 10 races always favor Jimmy. Only top drivers should be in, but the point standings should be earned. Cutting it to 5 points of separation is ridiculous.

Don’t get me wrong…Jimmy is good, but he wouldn’t have all those championships if not for the format. Statistically he’s simply the best driver on the final 10 tracks…what do you expect to happen? If stewart was statistically the best he would win, Buush, Kennseth, Gordon, if any of them were statistically the best at the final 10 tracks, they would win championships.

As we all know theres no way a car, such as Jimmy Johnsons can be that good
every week of the season. I feel Nascar is letting them get away with something small that ends up letting him run up front each race. If not that, its just plain cheating some where down the line, whatever it may be. Ive been a fan for years, but its about to lose my interest.. I do agree that Toyota should not be in Nascar racing, period! If Jimmy Johnson wins one more race, Im done! My God, the odds are 1 out of 43…. Go figure!
