Why Was Jeremy Mayfield Suspended?
NASCAR Needs To Drop the Secrecy Around Mayfield
It’s time for NASCAR to stop hiding behind privacy laws and confidential information – and tell race fans and drivers exactly why Jeremy Mayfield was banned from the sport.
If anyone thinks that the reason NASCAR won’t say is because of some health privacy law then I’ve got some oceanfront property in Iowa I’d like to sell you.
It would take a second-rate lawyer 2 seconds to write a clause into a NASCAR entry blank that says NASCAR has the right to publicly disclose the results of any driver’s drug test.
NASCAR doesn’t have any second-rate lawyers.
If NASCAR wanted to say what the reason was all they have to do is speak up.
The same goes for Jeremy Mayfield. Why won’t he say why he has been banned from NASCAR?
The other drivers have a right to know.
Was Mayfield taking illicit and illegal substances?
Or did he simply take too many aspirin along with an allergy medication?
There is a big difference.
Is the banned substance Mayfield was caught with a major sponsor of NASCAR – and is NASCAR simply trying to avoid embarrassing that sponsor?
Has NASCAR pressured Mayfield not to reveal any information?
It’s time for everyone to come clean. Both NASCAR and Jeremy Mayfield.
The fans have a right to know – but, more importantly – so do the other drivers.
