Have Your Say

Who has the edge at New Hampshire to kick off the Chase?

With championship points reset NASCAR heads to New Hampshire for the Sylvania 300 in the first of ten races. Points are on the line – Kyle Busch could find himself mid-pack at the blink of an eye. Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhardt Jr or Matt Kenseth – or any one of the 12 Chase drivers — could come away scrapping for the points lead.

When asked about his goal for the Chase Dale Earnhardt Jr summed it up nicely: “Win as many races as I can, and win the championship. I’d love to win the championship walking away. You know, go into Homestead with it clinched already.”

In 2004 Kurt Busch won this race, paving the way to the Championship he would win by the time Homestead was over.

Jimmie Johnson suddenly shows momentum heading into the Chase. “I’m trying to show up  scared, worried about 11 other guys, and worry about doing my part,” 2 time champion Jimmie Johnson said. “And the thing is I have confidence in what my abilities are and what my team is capable of and the packages we have put together in the last five or six months. Short track, big track, all of it.”

Besides all the Chase drama, Joey Logano will make his Cup debut Sunday at New Hampshire — as a warm up to next season when he will replace Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

So who do you think has the edge – for the race and the championship?

  2. Anyone of the top 12 EXCEPT Kyle Bush or Tony
Stewart who would do any dirty trick to win.
They are cocky, nasty and have no remorse
when they on purpose crash someone but cry like
babies if something happens to them An hour
on the couch may not even help their attitudes!

  4. The only winners will be NASCAR and their foreign investors.
    Toyota, Mexico, Central America…
Let’s bring racing back home where it belongs.
C’mon Drivers & Owners, start your own league and get racin’ back the way it should be!

  6. Aggie are you up in your nightshirt? You have the names twisted around. After getting pushed around by those two hot heads the rest have to get aggresive. Sprint Cup is the PROs not bang-em-up dirt track rookies who aren’t mature enough to control their temper. You know, if I can’t win I’ll take my marbles and go home?

  8. I hope Dale Jr. wins it; if not him, then Jimmie Johnson or Greg Biffle or Carl Edwards. Actually anybody except that obnoxious arrogant nasty Kyle Busch. With his attitude, he does not deserve to be champion.

  14. Dale Jr. has never won in NH so it would be nice for him to start the chase off right with a win. I am from NH and will be at the race cheering him on so I hope he takes the checkered.

  24. There is nothing wrong with Dale Jr’s head, it is his crew chief and crew. They need to get their stuff together and come together more as a team, and be able to call the right shots at the right times. Dale CAN and HOPEFULLY WILL win the championship. There is nothing more I would love better than that, and I am down on my knees praying that it WILL happen. However, if for some reason my prayers don’t come thru, ANYONE EXCEPT THAT WHINEY LIL TIT BABY BUSCH, but like Agnes says above, he will cheat, intentionally take out anyone in his way, and do whatever it takes to make sure he wins. God willing, he will be LAST as there is no room for CHEATERS, LIARS, AND WHINERS.

  28. I think Jimmy has a great shot at the title. They have finally found the handle on the COT and they are not going to look back. Chad is too smart for that. Car has a legitimate shot also. He is tough when he needs to be. Kyle can pound sand. Jr. will be close but will not win the title.

  30. As a super fan of Dalr, Jr., I naturally am for him all the way but if for some reason he does not win it all, He has already won it all. He has shown us this season what he is made of and to his loyal fans, he is already a champion. I would like to see him win because he is such a nice individual and he does deserve the title. He has had enough controversy in his life of late and it is time for nothing but great things to happen to him

  32. hello, JIMMIE JOHNSON, YES, simply because Jr has been in the top 4 or 5. Maybe Jr will win next year. Let’s not forget Jeff Gordon but he hasn’t really been runnuing that great either. BUT, who knows who will have the luck. GOOD LUCK TO JR AND JIMMIE J. Should Kyle Bush do ANYTHING TO MESS UP ANYONE HE AND JOE GIBBS RACING SHOULD BE DOCKED EXTREMELY HEAVY. I still say NASCAR needs to check those cars from front to back and top to bottom AFTER ALL WHY ISN’T OUR BUDDY MIKEY WALTRIP UP FRONT?????????? Looks KINDA FUNNY TO ME. grammy66

  34. Oh, I forgot to mention Brian VICKERS WHO TOOK OUT BOTH JIMMIE AND JR and WON the race, which if eiter of them had done that to anyone, they would have been suspended as well as the crews blahblahblah. AND THE WORST PART OF THIS WAS HE, BRIAN VICKERS WASN’T EVEN IN THE CHASE, and they should have TAKEN THE WIN FROM HIM AND HIS TEAM, FOR DELIBERATLY TAKING THEM BOTH OUT……HAVE WE FORGOTTEN—–OH NO……grammy66
