Pocono Picks — Besides Firestone and Michelin

July 29th, 2008 | by RacingWin |

NASCAR heads to Pocono this weekend for the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 — possibly one of the longest race names of the season.

Who are you picking for this race? And, no, I don’t mean you get to choose between Firestone, B. F. Goodrich, Michelin and Hoosier. Who do you think is going to win the race?

Remember, Pocono is a 2.5 mile race track — just like Indianapolis.

Pocono has long straightaways — just like Indianapolis.

Pocono has flat turns — just like Indianapolis.

In fact, turn 2 — the Tunnel Turn — was designed after the turns at Indy.

Indy and Pocono share a lot of the same characteristics. So much so that Goodyear and NASCAR seemed to think the Pocono tires would work at Indy, so they trucked a load of them to Indianapolis last weekend.

Lets hope we don’t have the same fiasco again.

So, who do you like at Pocono?

You know Indy Was A Bad Deal, As Far As The Tire Deal Goes, Maybe The Wrong Compound Was Used I Don”t Know But I Think Nascar Along With Goodyear, Maybe Should Look Into Giving These Teams A Break On Sets Of Tires They Get I Know They Cost As Much As $1800 Per Set I Know I Worked With Them, Or Maybe They Should Think Of Giving Them An Extra Set Or Two To Justify What Happened In Indy ..

I’m pulling for JR no matter what—BUT=======
Jr: get your pit crew working faster and you can win this one. You need to win another one to stay in the top of the 12. (the others are catching you in points)

Please don’t keep loosing spots when you have to pit as you did in the last race. Get the pit crew moving faster—if your crew chief can’t do it.

Is anyone sponsored by “No-doze”? That would be my pick, since it is such a boring race. However,if nobody wears that uniform,I put my money on Jr. He will stay awake listening to his IPOD!!!!

I agree with speed up your pit crew JR. I know those guys work hard but every stop at Indy JR. lost positions. That used to be one of the best teams on pit row. What happened? Yes I do think JR. will win at Pocono.

I believe in Jr. This really isn’t his type of track but you never know. Pushing Jr. but someone needs to push his pit crew i really thought he would have the best crew there was but the time he’s spending on pit road is way off!

I think the Hendrick boy’s are on a roll. Between the three of them, they will ensure there’s a Hendrick car in the winners circle.

I know, there really are 4 of them, but it seems like Casey just hasn’t been as determined as the other 3.

I like JR. He has been the most consistent of the Hendricks Teams. Don’t be too worried about the Pit Crew, they will do just fine, I think at Indy a lot of the problem was who was taking 2 tires and who was taking 4. Jr. took 4 tires almost everytime while the others were taking 2 every other time.

Tony is due so watch him too!

IN THE MEANTIME HOPEFULLY DALE JR WILL GET US
ANOTHER WIN IF NOT AT POCONO ONE OF HIS FAVORITE
    TRACKS COMING UP!!
OF COURSE RICHMOND WOULD BE GOOD SINCE I’M GOING
    TO THAT RACE!! :)
