No Penalty for Mark Martin or Jimmie Johnson

Crews for Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson had to make some fast changes before their race cars could depart Hendrick Motorsports for this weekend’s Price Chopper 400 Sprint Cup Race at Kansas Speedway.

During an Official NASCAR inspection the cars were not found to be illegal – but were very close.

The No. 5 car and the No. 48 car were found to be extremely close to the tolerances set in the NASCAR Rulebook after going through technical inspection at the NASCAR R&D Center this week.

NASCAR has not announced any penalties against either team – so their top 2 positions in the points Chase seem to be safe for now.

Hauler drivers were supposed to be on the road with the race cars – but instead were standing by to leave the shop.

NASCAR took several cars to the R&D Center following Sunday’s race at Dover, including the No. 48 and No. 5.

Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin – and their race teams — need to be extremely careful. It is difficult enough to win a Championship as it is. It would be impossible to win one after a 100 point penalty and the loss of their crew chiefs.

NASCAR has taken a hard line against cheating since rolling out the COT. Do you think it has been effective?

    2. I knew it all along! Chad not only is still doing it but he has now brought Alan down with him. Last time it was Letarte. I think he learned and that is why Jeff isn’t winning! He ain’t cheatin. Cheatin Chad it’s time for you to leave NASCAR you have no credibility.

    4. Why am I not surprised? Chad and JJ are just too good each and every week to not be trying something funny and now Mr Clean Martin and Choirboy Alan are right there with the 48. Wouldn’t it be funny if these two teams don’t run in the front of the pack this week. This might be a good week to put JPM in the fantasy team. I wonder if that is why JR ran so good before the 00 wrecked him. Could that have been a R&D setup on the 88? Of course the 88 was so smashed up NASCAR couldn’t have told if it would have passed tech after the race or not. Interesting, isn;t it.

    5. Cheatin Chad is as bad as a serial killer in many respects. He charms the officials and his buddy Larry Mac and everyone else all the while he’s putting the knife in your back. I have said all along he reminds me of a psychopath, charm, charm, charm but all the while figuring out how to screw you over. The real cheating is still going on he’s just drawing them away from what he’s really cheating with. Just enough to deter them from the real deal.

    8. Chad never quit cheating, NASCAR simply stopped trying to catch him at it.

    As for Mark, I am one of the many who would like to see him win a championship, but not by cheating.

    Why did NASCAR stop trying to catch Chad? Because Rick Hendrick is the power and money behind the new Hall of Fame.

    I agree that the teams need to be allowed more freedom to try to do SOMETHING with this stupid new car, legally, and all the teams, not just Hendrick cheaters.

    12. I recall Chad & Jimmie being penalized in the past for cheating so guess Chad is still not above it. Could that also be why the esteemed Mark Martin is doing so well? Obviously Jr’s team doesn’t cheat; he never finishes good enough to have run an illegal car.

You can keep up with the Drivers and owners, out of the blue a certain driver will win every race, Then all of a sudden that same driver don`t win anymore. common sence will tell you something fishey is going on. that`s the reason Jr. isn`t winning he is Honest. Think back and it is as clear as can be. JJ is winning the Championships and he will this time too. But I hope Mark Martin wins it Honest this time. Nascar should investigate, But who knows they may know all about this sceme.

    14. They were not illegal, so why is it cheating? everyone just wants to accuse Chad of cheating. What’s amatter with trying things that are legal. The problem is, everyone doesn’t want to see JJ win his 4th chanpionship in a roll. I’m not a JJ fan, but I would like to see them make history. Chad is doing what HMS pays him to do, and that is what he is doing WINNING.

    16. You people need to get a grip and stop watching the twilight zone and pro wrestling. All of the teams are trying to cheat all the time. As long as they stay just one mm under the tolerance, that is not cheating. I guess Dale Sr and Richard Petty must have done a hell of a lot of cheating in their time for them to have won all those championships. Teams for years have been trying new things remember davey allison?? well in larry macs book he tells you they cheated they used to excessivly put air in the fuel cell to slightly alter the interior volume thus adding more room for EXTRA fuel (never got caught) if you arent working the “gray” areas then your not doing your job but understand “WITHIN TOLERENCES BUT CLOSE” ISN’T CHEATING.when you go OUTSIDE those “tolerances” then its cheating

    20. I agree with Shawn,if these guys arent working the gray areas they arent doing their job. Staying close to but not out of the specified tolerences is not cheating. It called maximizing your legal limits. Also you are not cheating till you get caught..

    21. Yes in Nationwide but he’s not doing so well in cup. Why? probably because of no testing and they aren’t pushing it. I’m surprised they haven’t caught the 18 in Nationwide. Cheatin Chad will always be Mr. Sociopath. Use that charm and stab everyone in the back.He will get by with it until he’s busted for good. When he gets too confident and then BOOM! Kind of like a serial killer except he’s a serial cheater.I can’t believe Alan and Mark would push it too far. I sure hope not but Jimmie was the worst qualifier for HMS and then Newman if he counts wasn’t too good after being fast in practice. It won’t surprise me if Kahne or Edwards would win this weekend, maybe Clint too. Kahne needs the points and so does Edwards.

    23. I ask myself who gets the best each race with hms, the ones winning the races, and Jr. is not winning, so stop whinning about Mark. I would have thought Jr. had the pole to keep today, but Mark is so greedy he couldn’t slow down a little, you think he would have a little mercy for Jr. just kidding, I know Jr is a better driver then Mark, something is rotten in the garage, the smell is really bad.

    26. I have always wondered why Jimmie Johnson “always” is running up front??? It gets boring after while. I have asked many others without an answer. When dealing with an automobile exactly the same as all others, what goes on? I dont think every other team is stupid. Penske and Ganassi are well equipped and they cant match the Hendrick cars. I feel certain something is going on behind the scenes? I just hope NASCAR have the ability to find it and lay down the law real hard!

I suppose all the workouts ,all the weight lifting,pit crews getting you out, qualifying on the pole,hours and hours everybody working together and all the things it takes to win must be just a waste of time .Get real folks! Think about it.When you accuse Mark Martin of cheating you tell the rest of us NASCAR fans you don’t know your drivers.He didn’t get the reputation of CLEAN driver after one race.If you believe this then you need to try watching June Bugs fly ,you’l may enjoy it more.
