NASCAR TV Network

Would you watch the NASCAR TV Network?

NASCAR is the only major sport in America without its own Network. We’ve got the Golf Channel, the NFL Network, and the Major League Baseball Network is coming in January – but still no NASCAR Network.

But the talk keeps getting louder that NASCAR will start its own network to carry more in-depth coverage of the sport.

Would you like to see NASCAR come out with its own Network? If so, what would you like to see on the NASCAR Network?

I don’t think you’ll see live races – NASCAR is not going to compete with its major TV partners on that one.

But you could see race replays – maybe condensed versions of Sunday’s race on Monday night that only last for an hour or two.

Maybe we could get a better post race show that lasts for an hour or so and really breaks down the race and interviews more people after the checkered flag flies.

After all, the networks that carry the race are ready to go to another show as soon as the winner climbs out of the car – and sometimes before. Remember what happened at Phoenix earlier this year when ABC dropped their coverage with just a few laps to go.

Would you like to see the NASCAR Network? What kind of programming would you like to see on it?

The NASCAR Network would also be a great place to learn more about the history of NASCAR. Lets interview some of the people who have made NASCAR what is is today.

So – would you like to see the NASCAR Network? What kind of programming would you like to see on it? Would you be willing to pay a little extra to see the NASCAR Network? If so, how much would it be worth?

Give us your comments. I’ll forward them on to NASCAR so they will know how the fans feel about a NASCAR Network.

  2. I really think that if Fox would just stop and look they could improve Speed TV and add additional coverage. What we really need is offseason update programing. With the popularity of the sport it should not be that hard to come up with sponsers. They already have some of the Best in broadcasting so, why not do it?

  4. Yes I would like to see Nascar have there own Station

    Bruce,

Speed used to have some great NASCAR coverage.

Now it seems they are more interested in showing Wrecked, Pinks and 1963 Chevy Lowriders.

  6. It would be a great idea as long as it don’t cost anything. You have got to remember there are people that can’t afford any extra bills at this time. Not to mention there are NASCAR fans that can’t even afford to be lucky enough to go to a race let alone be able to afford to pay for a network. If it was like national TV it work great. As far as the way it is being seen now I agree they are flopping like fish, I don’t like it when I am watching a race and the network goes to baseball or football, I could only hope that NASCAR gives the networks a big giant fine for not fulfilling their obligation to bring a race from start to finish, which a lot of times they do not do. I will support this move as long as it don’t cost me an arm and a leg to watch my favorite sport. When the NFL went on strike I switched to NASCAR full time and plan to be here for many years to come.

  8. I would love to see a channel that focused on only auto racing. SPEED has gone downhill, showing all sorts of stupid shows and rerunning the same episodes over and over. They shoud change their name to something besides speed as they show a lot of restoration & silly shows on the network now. I would like to see more NASCAR, NHRA, and other racing that some of the NASCAR & NHRA drivers are involved in. And, I could stand some monster truck & tractor stuff including some info from when the sports first started. There are some cars & drivers that I wonder whatever happened to them. Also, I am interested in the other things that the drivers are involved in business-wise, restaurants, etc.,

  10. I watch all the racing I can find. I esp like the programs on the SPEED channel. I don’t want to pay for any extra channels.

  12. well, i really don’t like the idea, because i know from pass experience that in the end we,the fans, WILL end up paying, who knows, &198.99, 249.99,???per season just to watch our favorite sport?!! Hello!! Fans will deminish nd the sport will start to die like it did before. Find a GOOD station that will show us like the formula cars , the double screen at commercial, and the FLY-Over at the begining of the race, after i don’t care what some couple ,or kid is doing during the National Anthem i want to see the COMPLETE Fly over and the medical action,if nacessary, i don’;t watch the 2 hours of commercials during a 4 hour race anyway, most of the fans don’t and you should fine the netwert when they cut the After race burn out,the excitement part of the race,or cool activeties of the race, just my opion thanks

  14. This might not be a good time to start a Nascar network. We are not sure if their are going to be new cars to race a year from now. As for the SPEED, it sucks, its getting worse. Nascar should get involved with SPEED and get some racing back into it. I watched the Speed channel a lot at one time, rarely watch it now

  16. Duh!!!! What would I like to see on a Nascar Network? Hello!!!! What else would you want too put on a Nascar Network? PINKS? LOWLIFE? WRECKED? And then reruns of those? Duh! Nascar ofcourse!!!!!!! Then too Don’t put Trash on it like they have on Speed!!!!!
If they would CLEAN up Speed we wouldn’t need another Station. As Marcel Just said and may I add Get Nascar back into SPEED. It’s sad when the only time a Nascar Sta. gives you car news is during the racing season.
And NO!! I don’t think we need too pay more for IT.
I’m just new too the racing seen and am somewhat disappointed in all the Hype so far. So don’t mees around and push me out before I get my feet really wet!

yes i would like to see nascar with its own network, it would give the fans an optmost perspective on the sport. lets get it done and let the fans or even the first time fans see what this sport has got to offer!!

  18. The entire motive here would be profit. The Big Ten Network, the NFL Network, etc, ALL for profit. My fear would be this would open the racing version of Pandora’s Box, eventually leading to races being exclusively on a paid network. For a sport that was founded by blue-collar folk, FOR blue-collar folks, this would be disasterous. Especially when you take in to consideration that people are having such a tough time making ends meet. Before you conceed that we need a NASCAR Network, I beg you to view the big picture. I happen to agree with Wanda, if they cleaned up Speed, a lot of this speculation would be eliviated.

  20. If nascar had their own network, I think it would be great to see all the fun stuff that goes in the off season with all the drivers, what they do for the holidays, where they like to hang out and have fun, also have stuff like what do the commentators do when they don’t do the races. Also it would be fun to have them answer e-mails live, say maybe once a week when there is no race that weekend or something special to that effect for the at home people who can’t but wish they could make it to the races. I also feel, Nascar should have this free as we pay enough for the races and cable as it is.

  22. Yes Bruce, you’re right.

I’m all for a NASCAR Channel ONLY if NASCAR has no in put. We don’t need any of the France’s messing the sport up any more than they already have.

Day one, I’ve said “Mr. France Sr. is rolling over in his grave after working so hard for the sport and then France Jr. got greedy and it trickled down through the rest of the family.”
Here in Canada. We would even pay, as long as, it was a decent price. You would not believe the time trials and races we lose all because of Canada’s TSN. TSN has been a thorn in my side from day one. CRTC needs to give them competition. Would you believe a few years ago they pulled the ending of a race to show a
    “LAWNMOWER RACE.!!!!!”

  24. A BIG NO!!! ON A NASCAR CHANNEL. I HAVE MISSED TO MANY FOOTBALL GAMES TO THE NFL CHANNEL,I JUST DON’T WANT TO MISS ANY RACES.

Donnie hit the nail on the head. Find a good station that is hungry enough to do a good job for the fans. No Nascar does not need its own station, like Donnie said, paying at home is just not right. If Nascar could come up with a program that would be free to the T.V., Nascar Fan Public, I would say, go for it, but don’t charge us for the pleasure to watch something we love. Especially with all the money Nascar has.

  26. I would LOVE to see NASCAR start it’s own network. Getting shuffled around from nework to network is not good for our sport. NASCAR should tell the networks to shove it and air their own races…THEN AND ONLY THEN would the fans get the whole show the right way!

    Pappy,

Please don’t get the wrong idea.

If NASCAR starts it’s own network it will be to air support programming — not the actual races.

It would be news shows, driver biographies, post race shows and the like.

Don’t look for the actual races to leave the major TV networks anytime soon.

  28. Okay,LET’S BE REAL, they CAN’T ENOUGH FANS IN THE SEATS NOW, DO THEY THINK FOR MINUTE THAT THEY WILL GET FANS IN THE SEATS, IF THEY HAVE A TV NETWORK??????????
This is NOT FOOTBALL and it costs a lot to see, with GAS—-FUEL (DIESEL)prices gonna RISE,that FANS, MEANING US—– HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR TV AND GO TO THE RACES, GET A GRIP—-A LOT OF YOUR MERCHANDISE PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINNG AS IT IS, THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT BUYING MERCHANDISE, DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THEY WILL PURCHASE, I DON’T THINK SO. NASCAR AND I MEAN THE FRANCE FAMILY NEEDS TO REALIZE THAT IT COSTS A LOT TO SEE THESE THINGS AND THEY NEED TO REDUCE——REDUCE—-REDUCE—THE PRICES OF THE TICKETS TO GET IN, AS IT IS MUCH MORE OF AN EXPERIENCE TO SEE. IT ALSO WOULD MEAN A BURDEN TO THE RESTURANTS ETC….WHO PLAN ON THE PUBLIC TO COME. YOU HAVE TAKEN A SOUTHERN SPORT AND MADE OR TRIED TO MAKE IT NATIONAL AND PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD IT. I KNOW THAT DALE SR WOULD NOT AGREE WITH WHAT THE FRANCE FAMILY IS DOING TO THE SOUTHERN SPORT………..GRAMMY 66

  32. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A NASCAR NETWORK CHANNEL
FOR 24/7 NASCAR NEWS AND SPECIAL SHOWS!!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE OLD RACES FROM BACK IN
THE DAY AND WHAT WOULD REALLY BE COOL IS IF DALE JR COULD GET HIS OWN SHOW KIND OF LIKE UNRESTRICTED ON XM RADIO WHERE HIM AND HIS BUDDIES SIT AROUND AND TALK ABOUT NASCAR AND WHATEVER!! I WOULD PAY A LITTLE EXTRA FOR THE CHANNEL IF I HAD TO BUT I WOULD PERFER NOT TO!!

  34. i think a nascar channel would be great if its set up in the right way.
There should be enough story lines out there, so they don’t have to rerun the same thing over, & over. They could do stories on each driver,& fill the fans in on what they do on/off season.I could think of alot of things.
We live in ND, & we only here abt Nascar from the week before the season starts, & a week after the season ends. The down months we don’t. It would be nice to see what is happening threw the off time.
We just got SPEED channel here a few weeks ago, & so far not to impressed, with some of the stuff they show, but hope there Nascar coverage is a big improvement..
Hopefully they give us a Nascar channel, & they really make it worth while. We see Nscar re runs on other channels, same stuff over, over. I hope it works out, because Nascar FANS!!!

  36. The computer jumped, & cut me off.I was saying, Nascar fans are here 24/7 give us something to watch……

Of course I would like to see a nascar Channel!!! Are YOU KIDDING?!!! That would be so great, especially when it is off season and we all are suffering race withdrawl!!!! BRING IT ON!

[...] that NASCAR decides to put all the races on a premium paid TV network like NASCAR Network. The races would no longer be free, but you would get commercial-free race [...]

  38. Would you watch a weekly NASCAR talk show styled after “The Tonight Show” and ” The Ellen Degeneres show” with a live studio audience. And driver, crew members, and everyone involved with NASCAR?

  39. Ed.Garbacik on
  40. I would not pay anymore to watch NASCAR races.I am already paying for cable and extra to get SPEED channel. The only way I would even consider might be if they dump the piece of junk they call the COT and go back to real stock cars. That would make it more worth will paying for.Better yet, let Brian France pay for everyone to watch. He’s the one who is making crap out of this sport. With money being so tight, who can afford it?

Tell me what you're thinking...
