Where Are The NASCAR Thugs?

Tony Stewart has been called NASCAR’s bad boy — but he can’t hold a candle to some players in other sports.

Star NFL quarterback Michael Vick is sitting in federal prison right now on dogfighting charges.

Plaxico Burress, the New York Giants receiver, was charged with 2 felony counts after he allegedly shot himself in a New York City bar.

Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps is dropped by his sponsors after being photographed smoking pot out of a bong.

Player after player in Major League Baseball have admitted to using steroids.

So where are the scandals in NASCAR? Where are the thugs?

Here are the biggest scandals in NASCAR in the last few years.

It’s pretty calm in NASCAR compared to other sports.

Why is it that NASCAR drivers seem to get into a lot less trouble than people in other sports? I think it’s because racing requires a special skill set. Physical ability combined with mental sharpness. Racing just doesn’t attract the same type of participants that other sports do.

Another thing is that the garage is self-policing. Drivers have to depend on one another at 200 mph. They won’t tolerate thugs amongst themselves.

So why are NASCAR drivers more responsible than players in other sports?

  2. It’s called maturity. This is the only true SPORT! All those other get togethers are GAMES. The NASCAR drivers are more focused on their chosen feild, knowing they could die. What risk did Vick take? Getting caught was it.

NASCAR is one of the only “sports” where you won’t find bad “boys’ because this is the only sport I know that is a family event. The drivers are family oriented as well as the fans. Occasionly you will hear of some hot head driver who is on a “look at me” trip and will start a brawl that leads to nothing and are friends on the next Sunday’s race.
BEEN A NASCAR FAN FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS AND WILL BE FOREVER. Go Junior in 2009 !!!!

  6. This story brings to mind when Carl Edwards grabbed his own teammate by the throat(Matt Kenseth) and convincingly acted like he was going to punch him in the face. He should be tested for steroids cause it looked like a case or Roid rage to me. Of all the people to pick on. I’d like to see him try that with somebody like Sterling Marlin or even Elliot Sadler. I don’t know how anybody could be a fan of Opie Munster after that display. And Roush fired Kurt Busch just because he mouthed off to a deputy. I would have fired edwards on the spot for that display. They were teamates. I noticed Biffle came to congratulate kenseth for his wins, but no Edwards. He was probably off pouting somewhere. What a CREEP!

  8. the true goodie goodies are found in golf. Even tennis had it’s John McEnroe. I say if drivers want to duke it out, let then. It’s ok in Hockey. Why should drivers walk away frustrated.

  10. The possibility also exists that they’re so covered up in taking care of business that they don’t have the time to get into trouble!

Even with the elimination of testing Sponsers still demand large chunks of their time. It’s come light years from folks like Bro.Yunick dragging his car 600 miles behind his pickup to race at Rockingham, winning the race and getting $250 and a new set of tires from a grateful sponser.
