What Every NASCAR Fan Needs to Know About Their Tax Dollars

It’s not easy paying taxes. It seems even harder to figure out the IRS tax code. NASCAR fans pay their fair share of taxes. But 1 in 4 fans may miss a credit that could save $5,600 this year. Here’s a look at how taxes hit home for race fans.

  2. It doesn’t do any good to speak about what is on my mind. No one listens to the little people. I certainly don’t have the “big bucks” to be noticed. So, lets see if someone is on” that end.” Why do you need to show NASCAR commericals to the T.V. crowd when the cars and drivers are loaded with the same commerical stuff? Not only that, the station “HAS” to cut in too much and often….we always lose out on what is going on toward the middle and back of the race…. We get to see about 60% of the entire race. Then those “FELLOWS” up in the booth need to “STOP” yapping so much. The moment they start, I turn down the volume and watch what is sent to us on the screen. I will tell you, I’m watching less and less racing on T.V.I don’t go to any tracks anymore either. I honestly have lost interest. The NASCAR people say we want our fans to be happy or we are doing this for our fans.” Really not happening.” I won’t give my paycheck anymore to an organization who take my money and do the politic talks/speeches …Unless I see some changes and soon, we will say good-by and get better entertainment locally. I’ve been a fan since the Pettys, Allisons and my driver,Dale Earnhardt now gone, of course, were doing the racing. “The good ole Boys” . Give the racing style back to them. “PLEASE”

Harriett, if enough of us speak up they will be forced to listen. Whether it is on how the race is run — or how our tax money is spent.

You know what? Tax money is just money as far as I’m concerned…called politics…I can’t fix it, but keep working and I’m 72 years old. But when it comes to my entertainment, I want to enjoy it. However, seems I loose again…

  4. Harriet, I agree with you about the announcers always running their mouths and the number of commercials. DW just as well go be JJ’s or Kyle’s crew because obviously he thinks they are the only 2 on the track. To think, we have to listen to him and Larry Mac all season is too much. Nascar may someday listen more to the fans and let us tell them what we want to see or hear. Now, Direct TV has even screwed
HOT PASS, you can’t hear anything during those damn commercials. We miss a lot of racing and get to see the replay. That’s no fun anymore. I’M SICK OF IT even though racing is my passion. The stands tell the story of how people feel about the expense of going to the races. They have been pretty sparse this season. Maybe after the fans wait for their tax returns (or the IOU), more will start coming out again.

  6. Hey…I’m sorry and didn’t stick to the topic at hand and that was NASCAR Taxes….I will shop in places who sell “MADE IN AMERICA” “STUFF”. Tough to do, but there are places and Since I “QUIT” going to the race tracks, that eliminates motel, food, gasoline and souvenirs which are around the track for about 50 miles, to be exact. Now I don’t need to worry about the taxes, do I? I guess the way to stop the “BLEEDING” is to stay home. My solution, period.

  8. Personally, I don’t see how this is an article worth responding to. But, are you folks sure you are race fans? Sounds like some of you have some bitterness. Money is money and life goes on. I enjoy listening to DW & the guys & knowing they are still around and doing well. I love going to the tracks – TV is just not the same. And, there are no commercials. I try to buy products that are involved in the sponsorship of auto racing. I have been to lots of different types of race events and have met a lot of the drivers (the Wallaces, John & the entire Force Racing teams, Shirley Muldowney, Richard Petty, Parnelli Jones, Mario Andretti, Jeff Burton, Jimmy Johnson, etc., etc., etc.,) over the years and they have mostly all been very nice. At NHRA races, you are in the pits and it is nothing to be able to stop by & talk to any driver at their pit. Just being at the track is so energizing. We don’t have big bucks but there are cheap rooms to be had and sometimes sleeping in the car for a night works too. I think auto racing is better than any other type of sport and will continue to go as long as I am able.

The cheaper the rooms get the more people will go to the tracks. Taxes are less then. Sales tax on the tickets. pay less , tax less. ECT>ECT>… make a package deal of tickets & room, parking. Why not????

  10. Lynn, I agree that racing, NASCAR, NHRA, SCCA, or others are the best sports around for the fans. I have been a race fan from the late 70′s, when you could walk up to any of the drivers and ask for their autograph.
