Kyle Busch:”It’s Never Junior”

In the NASCAR world you can’t escape the topic of Dale  Earnhardt Jr and his new crew chief. Kyle Busch was no exception. Busch is taking shots at Dale Jr.

Here’s what Kyle Busch had to say about Junior and his new crew chief:

“You got to make the most popular driver in the sport competitive,” said Busch. “So you got to do what you got to do, I guess. He’s the one who brought that crew chief on. He’s the one who pulled so hard to bring Eury, Jr. in.  It looked like it was working there in the beginning and it hasn’t worked since the summer of last year, really. Whatever makes them better, I guess.”

“If Junior doesn’t run well, the crew chief is going to be the problem. You know, it’s never Junior, it’s always the crew chief.”

“He’s got his hands full, I guess, having to deal with what’s going on,” said Kyle Busch, talking about Dale Jr’s new crew chief Lance McGrew. “And if Junior doesn’t run well, then he is going to be the problem again.”

“It’s never Junior, it’s always the crew chief.”

No I think Dale Jr made the wrong decision to leave DEI/and I think Hendricks is making an example out of Dale Jr. Dale Jr. needs to be on his own/or in with a team owner that wants him to win. Hendricks is the one holding Dale Jr. back. If he(Hendricks) really wanted Dale Jr. to win all this time he would have done something long ago, Dale,Jr. would have really been on top, if he would have stayed true to his belief. Go for the win, even if you have to leave Hendricks to do so. Merri B.

    SETUP REDONE. IT SEEMS FUNNY THAT THE SET UP

If Kyle Bush didn’t have some cheating done on his car all he could do is follow what every body else does, He don’t know how do do stuff on his own like copying what his brother did by going around the track backwards and for some one that don’t like Dale he sure is copying what he did when he bows every time he wins. He can’t do any thing on his own except make snow angels.

    17. Kyle Bush just can’t stand for anybody to get any attention except him. Nobody cares what he thinks! Of course, when he has a problem, he always manages to blame someone else, but he doesn’t seem to recall his own bad behavior. If Kyle went back and watched the coverage of the race, FOX showed Jr in the car multiple times, sawing on the wheel trying to keep the car on the track. DW made several comments on how impossible the car was to drive and what a piece of junk it was. Why were all of the other teams able to make adjustments to their cars, but Jr’s car never got any better—as usual. And yes, why were Jr’s cars that were pulled off of the hauled set up completely different from all of the other Hendrick’s cars? GO JR, show Kyle what you’re made of!!!!

    18. I wonder who is at fault when Busch runs poorly. It’s never his fault. It’s the pit crew or the car or other drivers. Kyle has had a problem with Jr ever since Jr drove his car after he wrecked it and was no where to be found after it was fixed so Jr drove it.

    The business of Jr. getting a new crew chief is none of Kyle’s business so he should just keep his mouth shut for a change.

    23. Kyle will have to answer for all his digs and remarks he’s making. “Revenge is mine” sayeth the Lord. I can’t believe Joe Gibbs lets him get away with some of the things he’s said.
    As for as Jr. goes: I don’t know what the answer is but I do believe in him and Rick Hendrick. I think they will get things turned around and Jr. will be a contender again.

    29. Kyle may be a fantastic driver but he has no class. He gets high by being spiteful with a chip on shoulder. Kyle does not annoy me, he makes me laugh every time he opens his mouth. Kyle is pissed that HMS got rid of him and hired Jr. How stupid, he shold be grateful, look how much better he is doing at Gibbs than he ever did at HMS. He is trying to be a Earnhardt Senior: never happen Sr had class.

    30. What is it of Kyle’s concern what is going on at Hendrick Motorsports? He is not with that team anymore and he needs to just say it is none of my business I have no comment. But instead he wants to be a stupid idiot and run his mouth. Lets talk about the Report cards that the reporters were giving out on Fox at the Coca-Cola 600 during rain delays. Hendrick got an A-, Joe Gibbs racing a B- hmmmmmm that sounds to me that the team he drives for is worse. And when they talked to to D.W. he said Kyle gets an F for attitude. That to me doesn’t sound to favorable to me. Maybe he saw that broadcast and has decided to cry more like a baby that he is. Kyle get your diaper changed, and go play in your playpen with your blankie and pacifier and a bottle of mother’s milk and leabe the racing to the REAL MEN.

He is so jealous of Dale Jr it isn’t funny.. he says he isn’t, but why is it every time his toothy mouth opens, he is bad mouthing Dale Jr or someone else? Did he not show his true colors when he got pissed off about not winning the race, got out of the car and ran off the track? Now who’s fault was that? He couldn’t own up to any mistakes he made, he of course blamed someone else, then showed how childish he was by “running” off… What a crybaby! He has had a major corn cob wedged up his rectum ever since Dale Jr took his spot at Hendricks… Do you see Casey Mears trying every thing he can do to get back at Mark Martin for taking his spot there too? Nope! Just goes to show what a loud mouthed, snotty nosed, chuckie cheese half witted cry baby he really is. Sure everyone likes a good rivalry in racing, it’s what draws so much attention to NASCAR to begin with… that is why NASCAR is as popular as it is…. but off the track, everyone’s attitudes are so different…. it is somewhat like WWF/WWE whatever…. it is ENTERTAINMENT! If the truth be known and someone would “kidnap” the Shrub’s car, I am sure if they took it apart piece by piece it would violate so many rules that it would never race again…..but no one has the guts to do that…. something just isn’t right there…… The Shrub was being called last years champion even before the chase started.. where did that get him, and who’s fault was that? He never manned up and took the blame or admitted fault for any of it…..He needs to shut his face and get off his Dale Jr bashing… it only shows his ignorance. But this has been a long time coming, it comes as no shock that Rick Hendrick is changing things around… all of the cars in the Hendrick stable has what it takes, look at Mark Martin… he has done great so far this year with 2 wins…. Dale Jr will win, and it will be because he can drive, he has the car, and the team to support him in doing it….. Go whine up someone else’s tree Shrub!

    Make Chad Knaus’s Replacement Crew Chief As An “Interim” Crew Chief For Jr. He Needs Another Leader That Has Sprint Cup Experience, That Way
    They Would Be Able To Find “Hopefully” The Missing Link On The 88 Team And Then Name A Full Time Crew Chief.
    Giving Jr’s Ability To Drive, The Problem Has To Be Shared Equally With The Existing Team, Pit Crew, Crew Chief And “Driver”.

    41. I agree with you. Kyle has always had a hard-on for Jr since that racr, but I think things go alot deeper. Kyle had had a # of comments abbout Dale being the most popular driver & takes great pride in getting digs in every chance he can. That Richmond race was a prefect example,all the post race comments. He really should be glad he got out alive & that Dale Is the Type of driver that he is.The only way Kyle would be happy & that’s if Dale gave up racing, But then he’d have to find someone else to trash. As for Mr.H I think he will continue to help Dale as will Jeff,Jimmie,Mark,Chad,Alan & Steve.THEY ARE ALL TEAMMATES & WILL DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO HELP EACH OTHER> NO DIFFERENT THAN IF IT WAS JEFF,JIMMIE.OR MARK HAVING TROUBLE. Kudos to Juan Pablo last year for getting him back and having the balls to admit to it when they black flagged him. I hope the Monster gets Kyle this weekend. He’s such a “panty waste”.     Then Jr does need to wake and get his head out of the exhaust fumes. since the vett. crash he has been in cruise mode and getting slowwer. stopping blamming the car. DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT. Dad would wreck and still finsh top 10 or better. 90’s Jr did too! what happened

    48. Teresa was right about Jr he is not focused. Look at him after a race, he is all worn out. Look at Jimmie Johnson or Carl they just bareley break a sweat.
    The wicked old step mother wasn’t blowing up the motors, Jr and tony were, Jrs still blowing them up.
    Jr thinks he knows it all, when the old man was around and made him pay attention he was winning. He is good but he has to get his head back into driving and let the right people take care of everything else.
    I was Jrs #1 fan till he ran away from DEI winning and crying because he could not have his way. Hendrick gave him his way and we see what happened.
    Jr, get your head in the game!!
    Kyle has brought back some excitment to racing and he has the finess Gordo had when he started.
    Kyle wasn’t one of my favorites until he showed what he is worth, the way he drives is not cheating, it’s “good le RACIN”.
    I had the luck of meeting him, he is a nice guy. He needs to get out of that rice rocket and back in a Chevy.

No one will be Sr, the corporate wold of racing will not allow it with the”brand” attachment with the driver and the new breed of racers whining that somebody rubbed them or Tony Stewart crying to Reuitiman for running him hard. What kind of goof is he? he has a short memory, he did the same stuff when he was younger.
    Jr has talent and skills to his own right and can be GOOD, but again he has to race and let go to someone else handle the workings of the car.
    Kurt and Kyle are both talented because they knew the race cars before they ever got on the track.
    I wish some body would put Kerry in a good car, he has what the old man had and is kid is going to kick butt!

    52. dale jr hasnt had a good season in years.with dei and now with hendrick motorsports.putting them blame on any one person would be wrong.everyone knows dale jr can drive a race car,beings he has won back to back nationwide championships and 17 races.tony jr did not know how to work on the cot car and it was obvious.johnson starts a race with junk and by the second pit stop he’s in the top five.it all falls on the crew chief.you have to have a good handling,fast car to win.plain and simple.dale jr will be showing the racing world here soon that it was the right decision.as for kyle busch and his remarks,who cares.he has a right to have an opinion and he gave one.and for you all that dont know it,dale jr was the first race car driver to get out of his car and take a bow to the crowd,so all you busch fans need to take a look at that race one more time and then rethink busch and his remarks.

    55. Kyle Busch is an excellent driver and probably shouldn’t have said anything about Junior, but I have heard a lot of people saying the same things. Junior has had a lot of upheaval in his life in the past 2 years and that probably affects his driving. I think Hendrick did the right thing by making a change in Junior’s crew. Why doesn’t everyone give this change a chance instead of getting their panties in a bunch. Junior is obviously under a lot of pressure, but I don’t think Kyle or Tony Eury, Jr. had anything to do with Junior’s mistakes on pit road. Hey, Junior Nation, just chill and give Junior a chance to renew his driving skills in a very difficult and challenging sport.

When someone out runs him, he pitches his little timper fits and runs to his motorhome and will not even talk to anyone, that shows what he is, A STUPID KID. As far as Rick Hendrick is concerned, he’s got one of the biggest hearts in all of NASCAR and he wants all of his teams to win. After Teresa litterly threw Jr. to the wolves, Mr. Hendrick took him under his wing and is trying to do what Dale Sr. would have done. Jr. is one of a hell of a good race car driver and I’ll stick with him till the end. I’ve been going to races since the 1960’s and I’ve seen a lot of drivers come and go. Everyone expects Jr. to be like his dad, but he is his own person and will never be Dale, Sr. regardless of what he does, wins or losses. GO JR., WE LOVE YA!!!!!

    77. I’ve been saying the same thing that Kyle said for a long time. “It is NEVER Jr.” Teresa took Eury away from him at DEI and it didn’t make any difference. Now Hendrick is doing it and it still won’t make a difference. I am by far not a Kyle Busch fan but the KID CAN DRIVE. I have been involved in racing for about 40 years and I have never seen anyone that compares to him. JR needs to learn to let his crew chief make the calls. He runs the show and then everyone wants to blame it on Eury. JR is the problem not Eury!! HE will never be a Championship driver!!

    89. I have been a Gordon fan since he started racing, and never really cared what any other drivers were doing. That was until a couple years before he and Jr. became teammates. I started to wonder why JR. was so popular. I noticed the realness in his life and when interviewed, he was always so humble no matter what the situation. I couldn’t imagine the load he carries, and as far as Eury, they have dreamed of working together since they were kids. So what if it didn’t work out the way they planned, what does. For Kyle to make comments like that, when all he does is make excuses for problems and won’t admit anything, goes to show his lack of respect for the sport and also the sports legends. If Gordon can ask the late Dale Sr. for advise and also love the fact Jr. is now a teammate with a lot of criticism in the past, then Kyle should learn a lesson or 2, because his attitude isn’t going to get him far. I don’t care how many races he has won, because right now he’s celebrating by himself. Jr. just grows on you and you can’t help but like him, so now I have 2 guys with totally different fan bases that I get to watch compete while having respect for each other.

    92. Huff, you have missed the whole point. There is a lot of responsibility that goes with the title of the most popular driver. Even Busch acknowledged the responsibility in one of his interviews. The only attributes Busch carries are being obnoxious and his beligerance. He shows no respect to other drivers while racing or to NASCAR itself. It is only big bucks to him. The other drivers and yes, even Jr. put NASCAR first.

    He is an Earnhardt, but he does not thrive on his last name. Everyone, including fans have put that burden on him.

    Where is this ‘twit’s head.’ In ALL the years of racing, including our local tracks, EVERY DRIVER has a slump. Kyle won’t be able to handle it when it’s his turn. Do we have to wait that long for poetic justice.

    I couldn’t be happier with last week’s race. NOW. That proves the Crew Chief does have the final say. Kyle said “No, I’m not coming in!.”
    Ha Ha But he did! And then came the rains…

    My husband said I’m mean. But I said since K.B. is doing triple duty. Let’s set this up. How be he get into an accident Sat. (rain out) in the truck race and injured so he can’t race on Sunday!!!! I wasn’t being mean – just stating what I thought might be a ‘good out come.’

    I never agree with Darrell, but he did say about a month ago.”I think Jr. should get a new crew chief, because he won’t listen to Eury.” I guess that was true.

    99. Pee-wee Herman asa The Shrub likes to talk, that is they only way he gets attention. This racing technic is pedal to the metal win or crash and burn. There have been incidents on the tack between Jr and him with Jr ending up being the polite driver. Shrub cannot handle winning and having Jr still being most popular.

    Its been long overdue that Hendrick made the change with the 88 team. I think some of the pit crew need to wake up or be shipped out also. I read this week after the announcement of change in crew chief that when the new guy came on board he pulled the Dover cars out of the transporter and put the setup used by the other Hendrick teams on Jr’s car. Seems like Eury Jr had his stand alone ideas for setups.

    Time will tell, Jr did well in the past and he will do it again.

    115. Wow! You guys are really wound up. Kyle makes me want to upchuck. I love Jr. and think we should just give him a chance. We never know what is going on in someone’s life. It may have nothing at all to do with racing. I think a shakeup with a new crew chief is a good thing. It certainly can’t hurt. I personally think Jr. is still grieving for his father. Time heals, but it hasn’t really been all that long, give Jr. time, let’s pray for him and root for him. As for Kyle, what goes around comes around. Jealousy will eat you up Kyle and make you sick. Grow up!

    116. Jr. fans need to admit that he really isn’t the driver his dad was and he can’t continue riding on his father’s shirttail. I think the media and race announcers have hurt him more than anything – leave him alone and let him drive for himself. He needs to change his life style and get back to racing. He has had as many advantages as all of the other Hendrick drivers have so obviously there is a problem with him. As far as Kyle goes he should never have left Hendrick’s – he isn’t my favourite driver but I love to see that bow when he wins. Go get em Kyle! I am a Jeff Gordon fan and always will be – even if he retires in the near future he will remain up there with the all time great Richard Petty.

    117. Kyle Busch has had a problem with Dale Jr ever since he lost his job with Hendrick Motors and was replaced by Dale Jr. It’s plain as the nose on your face he resents Dale for taking his job. Ever since he has taken ever opportunity to take pot shots publicly at Dale and even on the track. Anything to get a punch in on Dale. That’s the Kyle Busch I know. Yes he’s can drive like a wild man and win races but he’s a total jerk and sore loser.

I am glad Rick Hendrick made this change with a new Crew Chief If JR. puts his mind and effort into it we will see the winner he truly is.

    119. Kyle is trashing the wrong driver. Didn’t the other Hendrick drivers have say in getting rid of Kyle?????? (I heard that somewhere some time ago) Jr didn’t have anything to do with it, as he wasn’t there and didn’t have him as a teammate.

    It’s just about 9:30 and all you K.B. fans. Now just what did he do today in the Nationwide and Truck Race? YES!!!!!!!

    His crew chief told him “Don’t drive the top of the race track.” Yes. He did the opposite.

    Go for a 3-peat – hey did I hear some one – like a crew chief tell someone to “Keep your mouth shut,” on the cool down lap? Was that for K.B.?

    Well now they did not talk to him before the Truck Race! Oh. I am so surprised! lol

    So. Does that mean they won’t talk to him Sunday?

    I can hardly wait for K.B. to hit his slump – well maybe he wants to race on something other than 4 tires! lol

    RIGHT!!! Jr. is NOT Sr. Try to remember that when mouthing off. Just a bunch of ‘heffer dust’, don’t you think Jr. fans.

    And. Hey!!!! There are other drivers on the track no matter if they are racing last do deserve some credit. At least they are out there on the track – you and I are not, ’cause we’re ‘chatting.’

    Personally there are many drivers I like and very few I don’t like, but then again -

    122. BJ I respect your point, my point is that Jr. is the most popular driver because of his last name. After writting my comment I caught the last part of Trackside, they had Tony Stewart on and Tony had talked to Dale Jr. that day and JR. had asked Tony what he should do, Tony’s reply was all that he could think of was to change his last name but if he was Jr. he wouldn’t because Jr. makes mo’money than anyone else. I guess I’m just sick of everyone putting Jr. on a pedestal, I’m not a Dale jr. fan and I’m most definatly not a Kyle Busch fan, I don’t think Kyle was insinuating that Jr. walks around thinking that nothing is his fault but rather that his fans and the media can see no fault in Jr. I read articles that have titles like “If Jr. Doesn’t Come Up With A Win Soon Nascar Is Doomed.” or “Ratings Down, Jr. Contiues To Fail To Produce Wins.” Maybe if the media and his fans woudn’t make Jr. out to be some sort of “Racing God” he could actually be himself and maybe get those wins. Kyle seems to be the only one to actually say something and maybe in some sort of round about way might even help Dale Jr.

    126. I am so sick of hearing cry baby complain about Jr. He never passes up a chance to throw a jab in Jr’s direction. Never hear Jr. going out of his way to trash baby. It would be great if when someone asked baby a question about Jr. that he would just reply with “no comment”, and leave it at that. Guess you have to grow up at some point and start acting like an adult, something that baby hasn’t been able to do yet. I guess you can say that baby can drive, if you call putting the other drives in danger with those stupid moves he makes. And of course, when something goes wrong, its never his fault, always someone elses. I can’t see why anyone would be a fan of this person. The tantrums he throws when he doesn’t win is so childish. In my opinon, he is disgracing Nascar. I agree with some of the other comments, that he is just acting like this to get attention. Just race and win like your suppose to and people might start liking you for what you are doing. Instead of hating you for everything that you’ve done so far. Can’t wait to hear what his excuses are for this weekend. Don’t think I have ever heard him say that something was his fault and that he was sorry. I agree with Fae, don’t understand why baby was even asked about Jr’s crew chief change. It was none of his business, nobody asked any other driver about it, {why?} because it wasn’t any business of theirs either, and they knew it. I respect Mr. Hendrick for his decision about Eury Jr. He could have fired him all together, but he didn’t, he gave him another important position. I don’t understand why Eury Jr. didn’t use the set-ups that the other drivers in the stable were using. I think he was just old school and the COT cars where just to much for him to adjust to. And so what if Jr never gets any better, he is still a far better person than baby will ever be. That won’t make me turn against him, once you get a favorite driver, stick with him through thick and thin. Thats what you call a true Nascar fan. Jr nation will always live on. He is just a great guy and in my opinion, a great driver, no matter what. In his interview today, he told them that there was other drivers that should be interviewed rather than him. That shows CLASS on his part. Well, guys keep up the comments, I love reading them. God Bless you all.

    132. Jr. will sort out his problems now that he has a new crew chief. He is so disgusted with what has happen to him in the last couple years. It was nice to see him finally smile after a race. he didn’t win but he did do better than what he has so far this year. I hope the best for him. As for Shrub??? He needs to mind his own buss……..

    138. For one time in his life KYLe is correct. Maybe, even he has enough sense to realize that the one driver who can fill seats and turn on TVs has to have a chance to win.

    “Familiarity breeds contempt” is an ancient saying which holds true today. People work together so long that they unconsciously begin to compete with each other and destroy the common goal. Most marriages exist at this level. Both partners love each other dearly. Yet, their marriages become a battle field. They might not even realize it, but their friends and family do.

    It was evident by phone conversations during the race that Jr. and Jr. had reached this point.

    If Kyle and the other racers are going to keep their pay, and job at the level they now enjoy Junior better be competitive.

    It might cause Kyle some discomfort, and jealousy. However, Kyle is right. It probably took a great deal of grit for him to admit it.

    I am a Junior fan through and through. The opposition is not always wrong. Go Junior. Kyle continue to work on growin up!
