Kyle and Carl Ready to Go 12 Rounds
August 25th, 2008 | by RacingWin |Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards Begin Rivalry
NASCAR couldn’t have done any better if they had hired Don King to promote the final 12 races of the year.
If NASCAR wanted a rivalry, they have one now after Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol.
“I tried to get him back, but I thought better of it.” ~ Kyle Busch
It’s coming down to a shootout between Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards - with jabs and punches being thrown from both sides.
Kyle Busch felt that Edwards rubbed him and moved him out of the racing groove unfairly after Edwards applied his Ford’s chrome horn to Busch’s Toyota with 30 laps to go.
“The way this works is, you know, a real smart racer explained it to me this way after he wrecked me,” said Edwards, “and I was real mad. He said, “I just had to look at your rear bumper and decide if you would do to me before, and you had, and so it was a real simple decision.”
“Earlier in the year Kyle was a lot faster than me and got to my back bumper and just smoked the back bumper of my car and sent me up the racetrack, and after that said, ‘Sorry, man, my car was just faster.’ ”
“So in my mind, I had to ask myself when I went down there in the corner, should I lift and brake early and do the best I can, or should I just kind of give him a little tap and see what happens? So that’s the way it went, and that’s the decision I made, and you know, I’d do it again.”
Busch, who had dominated the race most of the evening, had to collect his car and move up the race track as Edwards swept by for the lead.
Kyle Busch would chase Carl Edwards to the checkered flag, never to regain the lead.
Then on the cool down lap Kyle pulled alongside Carl and bumped into the side of the No. 99 Ford.
It appeared to cause Carl Edwards to lose control of his Ford, and as he was trying to save the car he hit Busch’s No. 18 Toyota in the left rear sending Busch into a 360 degree spin.
Busch seemed to be looking for some payback following the spin, but cooler heads prevailed. Kyle accelerated quickly for a moment then dove into the pits and parked his car.
Kyle Busch was angry with Edwards when he climbed from his car after the race. “If that’s the way he wants to race, we’ll race him in the Chase that way,” said Busch.
Busch was highly critical of Edwards driving style. “You know, to pass a guy, to hit him getting into the corners and chatter the tires is what he did,” said Busch. “I tried to get him back, but I thought better of it and tried to pull down and pass him back. But I didn’t have a good enough car to stick. ”
Even the normally cool headed J. D. Gibbs had a warning for Edwards after the race. “You reap what you sow,” said Gibbs to Edwards.
Busch was immediately summoned to the NASCAR trailer for a conference with Mike Helton and John Darby of NASCAR.

Sooooo….What JD Gibbs and Kyle Busch are saying is “it’s ok for Kyle to spin out the #88 at the first Bristol race when the 88 was leading and call it just racing and mock the most popular driver for weeks after the fact of the race but if someone just gives him a little bump and no spin or crash that’s just a sin”. Suck it up JD and Kyle. I don’t think the days of payback are over for Kyle yet! There are alot of other racers out there that still owe Kyle some payback. It’s funny how the 88 car was spun out by Kyle and he did not cry but Kyle gets a little bump and the tears just flowwwww!!!!!!!!!!! HA! HA! Just take it like a man!!!!!!!

This is a totally incorrect report!!!!;
(Then on the cool down lap Kyle pulled alongside Carl and bumped into the side of the No. 99 Ford.

THEREWAS NO COOL DAWN LAP, THAT WAS THE END OF THE RACE!!! CARL HAD ALREADY WON AND BUSCH DELIBERATLY SLAMMED INTO TO CARL TWICE-CARL DID NOT LOOSE ANY CONTROL!!!!! !!!!!!
CARL RETAILIATED AND SPUN HIS BUTT AROUND!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!
THERE WAS NO “COOLER HEADS PREVAILING”!!! BUSCH WAS ACCELLERATING TO CATCH UP TO CARL AGAIN AND HE WAS CALLED INTO PIT ROAD TO THE TRAILER FOR HIS HOT HEAD BEHAVIOR!!!!!
HE LIED ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIS INTERVIEW AND MADE A TOTAL SPECTACLE OF HIMSELF!!!!!!!!!!1
WHO EVER WROTE THIS REPORT IS UNTRUTHFUL AND VERY MISINFORMED!!!
GO TO NACASCAR.COM AND WATCH THE RACE REWIND AND SEE THE INTERVIEWS!!!!
THEN MAYBE YOU CAN REPORT CORRECTLY, OBVIOUSLY YOU DIDN’T WATCH THE ACTUAL RACE!!!!!

YEA, CARL! Kyle Bush deserved what you GAVE HIM, you did nothing wrong, YOU DIDN’T HIT HIM SO HARD THAT HE WOULD DAMAGE HIS CAR. HOWEVER, WE BOTH KNOW THAT IF THE SHOE WAS ON THE OTHER FOOT, HE WOULD HAVE SLAMMMMMMMMMED YOU STRAIGHT IN THE WALL. I THINK IT IS REALLY FUNNY ABOUT HOW HE IS CRYING WHEN HE DRIVES LIKE THAT ALL THE TIME, DOES HE NOT LOOK IN THE MIRROR. AS for GIBBS, Joe, AND HIS RACING TEAM THEY SHOULD BE DOCKED FOR EVERY POINT IN THAT RACE, BOTH OWNERS, DRIVERS, PIT CREWS, AND WHATEVER ELSE. SHOULD NASCAR LET JOE GIBBS DO WHAT HE SAID THEN THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO RUN at the REAR of THE FIELD EVERY SINGLE TIME.I’m not a FORD person BUT I WAS SO GLAAAAAD TO SEE Carl DO WHAT HE DID. NASCAR NEEDS TO WAKE UP, THIS IS not FUN and with the times as they are, JOE GIBBS SHOULD REALIZE HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO FIX AND RUN THESE CARS. that BILLBOARD NEED TO COME DOWN because Kyle Bush DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE SAME CLASS AS JR, TONI, JIMMIE JOHNSON, JEFF GORDON, MIKY
WALDRIP, HONRADAY, KENNY WALACE, RICHARD PETTY ETC, ETC. grammy66

Carl Edwards is a jerk. I saw him slap a bottle of water out of the hand of one of his pit guys one day cause he was mad. He also ran into the side of Dale Jrs.car one day cause he was mad. I think he has an anger problem.

Hey Kyle…what did YOU do to Dale Jr. at Richmond? Don’t get your panties in a bunch, Carl just did to you what you did to Dale Jr. You called it “hard racing” but Carl was being very nice and said it was pay-back time.
The saying is if you can’t stand the heat…get out of the kitchen. ATTA BOY CARL ! !

I am a totally a Jr Fan but I must admit I truly loved watching Carl go back at Kyle. I agree Kyle loves to dish it out but doesnt like it when someone comes after him. But I think Nascar should take a look at the cup cars of that team just like they did in Nation Wide, I
feel they are running a faster motor then others. Now if Kyle ends up winning this thing I dont belive I will be able to watch the awards ceremony. So my hat is off to Carl

Way to go Carl, I thought eventually someone would give back what ( CRY-BABY ) HAS BEEN DISHING OUT FOR SO LONG. I only wish that it had been Dale Jr. that did it. But he has to learn that nice guy’s finish LAST.

I am a Jr fan but loved to see Carl take the win away from the cry baby. It was okay when he knocked Jr. into the wall and called it just hard racing but cries like a baby when somebody touches his bumper. At least Carl did not put into the wall. Kyle thinks he is the only person on that track, well there are 43 other drivers and he needs to grow up.

Yes Joe Gibbs…you do reap what you sow. Your crybaby driver did reap a “little” of what he has been sowing for a long time now.
And now here you are a “Christian” man who more or less threatened Edwards. Go back and take a long look at the races where Kyle did the same stuff..and worse!! Here is one for you..Do unto others! Oh wait…that doesnt apply when its your driver and it hits your wallet huh?

Vera Pitt—-you cry baby busch needs to be banded from Nascar. I don’t see anyone else doing or threatening to crash someone out if they get in his way.
He needs his diaper changed also his attitude. He is a spoiled baby. The only way he won those other races, is because of the car that was modified. You belong with cry baby busch.
I am a DALE JR FAN ALWAYS WILL. I was at Michigan race and I cheered for Carl Edwards to win….. And he did. Not the cry baby.
He lied about what he did to Edwards, just to protect is baby image.
He needs to grow up.

The “Bump and Run” has been an acceptible tactic in NASCAR for how long now? Oh that’s right. Since day one! I love the look on KB’s face when he doesn’t win. It doesn’t matter why or how. He loses, he pouts. Watch his bottom lip stick out. It even quivers occasionally. I love it! I said about 3 weeks into the season that Kyle was making too many enemies. In fact I used the exact phrase “You reap what you sow”. Reap on Kyle, reap on.

pay backs a b_ _ _ h. Kyle. way to go Carl.
Did not the cry baby once say if he couldn’t
pass them he would wreck them. Has he not
wrecked drivers in truck, nationwide and sprint?
Is it not time for nascar to come down hard on
him and J.D. Gibbs. It’s time for the shrub to
grow up, and quit his crying, and nascar to quit
ignoring all the crap he does on the track.
Kyle needs to be kicked out of the sport.

We are diehard Dale Jr fans also. Carl is one of the greatest drivers of today. Over the past few yrs Kyle has wrecked many cars, with his dangerous tactics, & nothing has ever been done abt it. He seems to always slide by everytime no matter what he does. Seems to be one set of rules for him, & another set of rules for the other drivers. It amazes me, that he has put himself so high above everybody else, like he’s the only driver on the track, & all the other guys are just suppose to lay back,& let him win. He is so cocky, & full of himself, he can’t take it, if somebody else gets a little attention. Carl did everything by the book, didn’t send him into the wall etc, like he could have, & if the shoe was on the other foot, Kyle would of sent him into the wall, in a sec. I’m really disappointed in Gibbs, for actually defending Kyle , & blaming Carl for WINNING!!!! He needs to take a closer look at wonder boy, look back at all the trouble he has caused over the last few yrs, at Hendricks etc….His tactics are nothing new, abt time somebody knocks him down a few pegs…..He whines abt everything… Now he will be trying to get back at Carl, & put everybody in danger on the track…Need to remember he also wiped out his own brother with one of his moves, so he has no respect for anybody out there..Judie

JD Gibbs must have been on a lot of potty breaks not to have seen what his driver does on the track! Giving a warning to Carl, they need to clean up their own backyard. Please teach your driver about being a GOOD LOSER, he acts like a 3 year old not getting his way.

It was SOOooo fun watching Edwards pass Kylie! I am also a Jr. fan. There aren’t many of the drivers I don’t like. Kyle is the main one that makes me want too Spank his butt, put him back too bed and not allow him up until he can play nice… Yes I’ve had young childern. I liked Carl until his actions last year aginst Matt and him his own team mate. So he and Kyle are no different too me. Boo, Hiss too you both. BUT GO CARL.

Bush crying about being bumped in the big race Sat. night. Did anyone see the truck race Wed. night and hear what (I think it was Johnny Benson) said too his Spotter about someone telling Bush that the rest of the field was racing for the championship. Kyle was again out there acting without respect for anyone. So maybe Nascar needs too check the trucks also. Or has TOYOTA bought off NASCAR? MMM
