I DO NOT REALLY CARE TO BE AROUND EITHER ONE OF THAT TEAM WHEN RACE DAY IS ON, THEY ARE TOTALLOY DEVOTED MENTALLY TO GETTING EVERYUTHING PRECISELY WHERE THEY WANT IT AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY IF YOU TRY TO ASK THEM FOR A PHOTO OR AUTOGRAPH. I’d love to agree with you about the 48 driver and crew-chief, but I can’t! I’ve been around racing long enough and have seen up-close that there isn’t a rule that can’t be broken or twisted to fit or work better than everyone elses! The hardest part is as you point out, not to get caught!!
Just listening to Knauss you can hear the determination and preciseness in his eagerness to be #1. He knows what to do and how to do it- whether its legal or not-he can out smart the best of them I’m sure!!
I’d much rather see Mark Martin at the head table!! That would be someone to be proud of!!

I cannot believe my own eyes….Rick Hendrick would not cheat to ruin his own name. I never thought Rick Hendrick had a good name for a long time if ever. Hendrick is the one that bribed Honda of America to get more Hondas on his car lots so smaller dealers would go under. Clinton pardoned Hendrick..Hendrick was GUILTY as charged….Jeff was caught with a magnesium manifold titanium hubs traction control and trick tires. The T-rex chassis was also banned by NASCAR that Jeff used. JJ and his cheater crew chief has been fined HOW MUCH for cheating? Hendrick is not about winning the fair way it’s about winning at all costs. If thats the kind of bogus champions you want then Jeff and JJ are your kind of champs. I always want to look at a drivers past….Jeff did not win the IROC or Busch championships….and Jeff drove in both championships…What has jj done in the trucks and Busch cars before he got into a Hendrick car….what nothing. Winning Championships at Hendrick means nothing to me.

Of course Hendrick will cheat. Although, as bad as I hate to admit it, JJ is a decent driver. However, he is by far not the best driver in the field. There is no way he is so much better than everyone else that he can win over and over. This kind of garbage is why the fan base for NASCAR has dropped off. In have no respect for anyone on the Hendrick team. Especially that sell-out Dale Jr.

No…. People are turning the channel, cuz they are tired of the same race team up front week in and week out. I admit the 48 team is good, but nascar has got the sport now where it’s boring. nascar has it where lower budget teams can’t compete. Thats not the way it used to be. Back in the 80′s and early 90′s a low budget team with good people could win races. now it’s all bout the Money. Nascar has taken the cars away from the mechanics and engineers. Its NOT Racing anymore!

To even consider that JJ and Knauss are playing by the rules is ridiculous. It just seems that NASCAR is endlessly willing to turn their heads the other way because for some reason they feel that his dominance is good for the sport. WAKE UP NASCAR, YOU’RE LOSING FANS!!! I like many other people are sick of tuning in just to watch the 48 team dominate again. If they are playing by the rules, then why does it always seem like they have 100 more horsepower at the end of the race. take this most recent race for example (TMS, April 2010) he was one of many cars on the final pit stop to take 4 tires (the front 6 or 7 took 2), however he was the only car that was passing the cars with 2 tires like they were standing still. you can say he’s a great driver, but I’m willing to bet if you put him on any other team, you’ll find out otherwise. the 48 team needs to be stopped, they’re ruining the sport.

Something is going on, Knauss’s job is to PUSH the black&white into the grey areas, and they have been warned once…I wouldn’t be suprised if nascar officials aren’t in it as cohorts. Their backgrounds are somewhat fishy, if you remember. Yes. The 48 team is cheating. Or do you honestly believe that they’re on the pole at Homestead, that they’re more than .20 faster than the second place car, and it’s all due to “team chemistry”? To give you an idea, the 2nd place car did not qualify that much faster than Regan Smith, starting 16th. Sorry NASCAR -not buying it. The Lowes team is doing something more than just “working awful hard”. They’re good, but they’re not THAT good. There’s something illegal on the 48 car, week in, week out.

I think Chad is so bright he has figured out some newer technology that NASCAR hasn’t even figured out.It could be some new part or something that is just better. I don’t think it’s so much cheating just having the brightest guy figuring out the newest stuff before anyone else does. Ray Evernham was his mentor, he still is his mentor and if you notice he even mentioned “new” technology on NASCAR Now yesterday. I’ve been saying this for two or more years.They could hide it with radio controls and also very small chip on the engine that is about impossible to find or maybe it’s something they have in the car that is put in there by the driver and removed by the driver in his firesuit? Jimmie comes across as nice but I think he’s the biggest phony out there. He knows what Chad is doing because I believe he is involved.

Since this is a yes or no question I am going to say No I don’t think they are cheating but I also believe I could be wrong. I think they are as close to crossing the line as anyone can get but still managing to keep it legal. I actually only truly care that Dale Jr get some of the good stuff next year because I do feel he has been left out this year. I just can’t help feeling that’s the main problem, the equipment he has to work with is NOT the same as the other guys have, along with bad luck it’s all added up to a frustrating struggle all season. Cheers to Jr and the guys for hanging in there through the good and the bad!

If he’s leading after this week by as much as he is now or more expect me to not watch and loads of others as well. TV ratings are down because of this and football and boringness (if that’s a word). Who would not rather see Mark win? I’m so sick of Jimmie Johnson and that underbiten bull dog I will not watch or pay close attention. I’ll go out and work in my yard, check out my football team and just have the leaderboard on the puter to check in on but that’s it. Oh and the other reason ratings are down–ESPN stinks! DJ is all about blowing HMS horn. They interrupt for football etc and you can tell racing is not first for them. At least FOX doesn’t preempt or TNT for that matter. If college football is running over NASCAR takes a back seat. If the race runs long and it’s time for some major sport like baseball, basketball they cut away.

I know I may be getting off subject a bit but does anyone know of any other sport that the network breaks away from while they are still in action? Why do they do that to NASCAR? They don’t wait for a caution before they have a commercial, they have a commercial while the race is still going on, do you think they would do that with football or basketball or tennis or gee I can’t think of any other sport they do this to. Meanwhile during the commercial there might be a caution and we missed it…………..is Nascar treated differently ? Those commercials must be pretty important. I keep watching but sometimes the commercials are overwhelming.

being a long-time NASCAR fan, I know for a fact that cheating has gone on for many years way back to everyone’s friend Pistoni back in the 60′s and 70′s, but they usually got caught. I really don’t think with technology the way it is now, no one could get by with anything. So I have to agree with all of you that do not believe there is any cheating going on. I only wish we could blame Jr’s off year on someone else walking a thin line.

With testing the cars after the race, I highly doubt that Jimmy J and Chad K are cheating. Jimmy is a good driver, driving clean but I tell ya, I’m not looking forward to my sunday races anymore. Where were you when Chad was banned from the track for 6 races and fined a wad of money and points taken from JJ? Chad has been caught 3 or 4 times in the last 5 years. This is common knowledge and once a cheater always right? Let’s wait and see after JJ wins his 4th straight and makes history, what happens then. I imagine this is costing Rick big bucks for the history making event that is about to take place. After he wins the 4th and is the only one to do it, I think they will let Mark have his turn. Poor Jr will never win it because he makes Rick lots of money just being the most popular driver so he don’t care if Jr wins or not, he is still getting his big bucks. Makes me sick, Teresa took Jr and now Rick is. I have no respect for either. I just wish Sr was here to kick them all in the rear!

I can’t believe it is cheating, but there is something wrong with this picture – why is Dale Jr not in the chase, why is something always happening to his car and why get rid of Eury Jr when it changed nothing? If they are truly a Hendricks team, then they should be sharing whatever is working for the 48 with the 24, 5 and 88. That is the problem I am having with this whole thing. I think the 48 team is pushing the enevelope and are on the fine line of cheating. So the real question is if they are doing something(s) outside of the rules, and NASCAR willingly allows them to do it, is it cheating? I do believe that NASCAR bends the rules whenever it is convenient for them to do so and I am pretty suspicious that JJ and MM have benefited from this type of behavior. I am sure NASCAR would love for MM to win a championship and for JJ to win a fourth. I don’t know what is going on in the engine departments but it is clear that Hendrick seems to have a significant horsepower advantage. How would we ever know if NASCAR allows them to have an engineering advantage that the Dodge, Ford or Toyota camps would never know about? It’s NASCAR’s sandbox and they make the rules up as they go along. How many “debris” cautions do we need to see before everyone believes this to be true?

Jimmie is just a good driver, and he has a good chevy, and the backing from an old racing owner Hendricks Motor Sport, and Dale Jr. could be a better driver if his car was serviced at the same place as Jimmies, Mark, and Jeff Gordon (who is part owner of Jimmies No. 48) and Jeffs car also has problems also. I know someone who was at the Dover race and they said that Mark and Jimmie’s cars were so funky looking skewed to the one side that they looked lopsided on the track. Well go figure…..they had the wing set so far over it msde the car look that way. If you notice Mark and Jimmie’s car always look like they are leaning over on the left side. I’ve always viewed racing as whoever cheats – and gets away with it – wins. They have an advantage somewhere, NASCAR just hasn’t found it yet. Back a few years ago when the 24 was winning so much and no one could figure out why then,they had a car called the Trex that nascar told them not to bring back to the track and sense then he has struggled like everyone else. I agree, & disagree with some of the posts.To me it seems a little strange that J&C have the perfect car everytime,week after week,& out of all 43 teams, they never seem to have to many problems,while most all other teams have @ least 2-3 each week.I don’t see how they come out squeeky clean every week, & nobody seems to question it. If we all remember Chad tried to cheat either last season, or the season before, & he got fined, & they used another crew chief for part of the season, so he has been known to cheat if he thinks he can get away with it.They are good together as driver/ crew chief, but even the best duo, has a bad day once in awhile.. Going back to the cars being the same set-up etc,I have a problem with that!!if its true, then somebody better have a real good explanation as to wht Jimmy, Mark, & Jeff run up up front most all the time, & JRS car ends up in the dumper just abt every week. I may be dumb but I just can not understand if Jimmy, Jeff, Mark and Jr.(I know the wrecks,cre were not in his control)are all using the same engines why he is having so much trouble with his engines. I am just confused I guess. I do feel sorry for him because you can tell how much he wants to win for himself,his team and owner and his fans. I am hoping that in the off season they can figure out what is going wrong.

NASCAR has already warned the 48 team that they were getting too close to crossing the line on legal changes. That being said Mark Martin’s team got the same warning from NASCAR.

Chad was suspended for “cheating” by NASCAR.

So I guess my answer would have to be yes based on those facts.

I often wonder just how much sharing of info Chad does with the other teams. There seems to be somthing “Rotten in Denmark” as far as the 88 Team. It just seem strange that 3 of the 4 teams are doing great and the 88 is left in the dirt. Same equipment – I doubt it, getting the same info as the other 3 teams – looks doubtful. Something major wrong – you bet there is.

You would think that Rick would be trying everything possible to get things right in Jrs car. Just once. Jimmy was average at best in IROC and slightly below average in every division he had raced in prior to sprint cup.
Hendrick cheater cars and Nascar letting them get away with anything have helped transform him from nothing special to a guy running up front every week. Even Deputy Barney Fife can figure this out.

I think that they are cheating. How can a driver go from 20th to 2nd in a few laps every week? If the 48 team wins the championship again, NASCAR will die. All you have to do is look at the stands, they’re not full. Let’s not forget that at the Daytona 500, Chad put a hinge at the top of the rear window so that when Jimmie hit a bump, it created more downforce on the car, thus they could drive faster.

Cheat…maybe not, but lets remember that the #48 team has been fined many time over the years for “PUSHING THE ENVELOPE TO THE LINE NOT OVER” that happened this year. I do think you are right they dont SHARE..there not even in the same building..there with #24..Jr. is with #5 been there seen it. But Jr. nation will be glad to know there is more fans at Jrs place, a lot and the day we went zero at Jimmy’s & Jeff’s.plus there is more to see at Jr.s and very little at the other. When the 99 got caught cheating with a missing panel they were fined and docked 100 points.
When the 48 team used modified shocks they are told not to use them again. The latest cheat was when the body was out of spec….then Nascar says it was legal, but told them not to use that car???????
Then the “moving” rear window deal a couple of years ago, they were told not to use it and no penalties.
Nascar and Hendrick are in bed together.

The first year that I followed NASCAR,(2003) I picked Jimmie as my #2 driver (Ricky Craven was my favorite.) My favorite drivers are now Kevin Harvick & Robby Gordon I didn’t know anything at all about NASCAR or racingthen, but I was very impressed with JJ’s style of keeping his cool, and calmly, methodically working his way to the front. He is just such a smooth driver. I can’t stand Jeff Gordon or Mark Martin, Iknow, Iknow, Mark is soooo “humble”, but I’ve heard him whining too many times “get them out of my way, I’m running for a championship”. Also, whenever he takes the pole he always ‘left some on the table’…drives me banannas….anyways, JJ & Chad are pushing the envelope with speeding on pit road,they are picking their stalls by where the telementry lines are. Brilliant! They are proving something new in NASCAR that is hard for long-time fans to swallow: IT’S BRAINS THAT WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS NOW !!!
I, too am praying that things turn around for Dale Jr, he deserves so much better then he is getting.

We all know Chad has a way of violating the rules. In my opinion, this is Nascars fault. If those morons that run the sport would stop treating the top drivers like prima donnas and come down hard on them for cheating, cheating would probably be almost nonexistant. How can you earn points and money for a race when it was determined you were in violation of the rules? Simple solution: you were cheating, no points no money, come back next week! Just a short comment about Waltrip be black flagged for being too close to Johnson in practice. Stay away from the golden boy, Nascar wants him to win his fourth consecutive title.

Yes, I believe the 48 team is cheating. I have a theory why their car has not been caught in postrace inspections: Johnson is taking some sort of illegal substance and the car has nothing to do with his success. I know NASCAR does test drivers for illegal substances (Jeremy Mayfield was caught in the act once). I do not know how often NASCAR conducts drug tests on its drivers, but I predict Johnson will test positive for something in the near future.

no they are not cheating, they are that good ,and no one can beat them, all the people in here that say he is cheating are the ones crying because they cant be as good as the 48 team, . hey u guys work harder ,the 48 team has and its payed off, so if u want to be the 2010 champs get to work, quit partying so much, put your nose to the grind stone and maybe u all will be as great as the 48 team someday! go jimmie win 50 more championships!

So all those times JJ crew chief was caught cheating did not happen? What did JJ win before he got his ride at Hendrick…Hendrick bribed Honda and paid off Clinton so you think Rick would not bribe NASCAR….JJ and Jeffs championships mean nothing to many NASCAR FANS. Jeff did not win the Busch or IROC championships but was unstoppable in the Hendrick cars during the mid 90s. JJ and Jeff would have no championships in NASCAR without Hendrick cars….and thats the truth about both..

Look this is is what I came down with. Iam a huge Jeff Gordon fan and I have a lot of respect for Mark Martin. Personally I used to like Jimmy Johnson ,but something has been ringing in my head that is not right with his team . I mean how good and dominant can you be for such repeated times. Is not fair to all the other drivers /teams that he cheats. I mean his car passes other cars like he’s got 200hp more than the others. Nascar needs to wake up and “cut” that guy for good. He’s a cheater along with Chad 100%

I believe that nascar fans need to wake up! Of course he’s cheating, or at least lets hope so. Because if Jimmie Johnson is not cheating then that means everyone else in nascar sucks. Jimmie Johnson fans who say he’s not cheating, would have to believe that drivers like Gordon, Stewart, Kyle Bush, and Dale Jr are not good enough to win races. Even if Johnson is better than everyone else, he is not better for 5 years straight. OHHH and nascar it’s an insult to the fans for you to let him win as often as you do.

For those that think Chad Knaus is not cheating is ignorant of the history of the Rick hendrick organization. Chad Knaus has cheated more than any other crew chief. Do your research on the internet like I have done. It’s well documented that he has been caught, fined and/or suspended 15 times resulting in a loss of owner and or driver points. He should have been banned from NASCAR long ago. The discussion on a rule change was going to be 4 times and you’re out! As of recent, NASCAR has turned their head.
