Harvick Edwards Fight

Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards Get Into Fight at Charlotte

Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards were involved in a heated argument that turned into an all-out brawl Thursday afternoon at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Harvick, Edwards and David Ragan were gathered in the Nationwide Series garage riding out an afternoon rainstorm when things turned ugly.

“The deal with me and Harvick is between me and him and there’s nothing else to talk about. That’s just what it is — we know where each other stand and that’s it.” ~ Carl Edwards after climbing off the hood of Kevin Harvick’s car.

It seems that Carl Edwards was still a little miffed because Kevin Harvick called him a ‘pansy’ for riding around at the rear of the field at Talladega last Sunday.

After Edwards called Harvick out over his comments the two drivers exchanged intense words – then Harvick tried to turn and walk away.

That’s when Edwards grabbed him on the shoulder and spun Harvick around.

Harvick then shoved Edwards across the hood of the No. 33 Chevrolet – leaving a huge dent in the process.

Jeff Smith, who drives Harvick’s motor coach, stepped in and put Edwards in a headlock before the fight escalated any further.

The trouble has been brewing since Sunday at Talladega when Carl Edwards left a note with the pilot of Harvick’s Learjet that, according to The Charlotte Observer, read: “Kevin, Thanks for [profane] me on TV. I was really trying to screw up everyone’s day. Love, Carl.”

Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle must be loving this. If Edwards gets fined and docked championship points by NASCAR over the fight it will put the two of them alone at the top of the Championship standings.

Word is that a Lowe’s Motor Speedway staff photographer caught pictures of the whole thing – we’ll see if the speedway will release them.

If the motor coach driver hadn’t broken things up I think Harvick could have taken him. Who do you think would have won the fight?

There are a couple more drivers who need to stand in line to get their a$$es kicked too and the Vile Kyle Busch is right there at the top of the list. BUT Sunday’s disaster couldv’e been avoided IF Carl had let the AFLAC duck drive the car instead! LMAO! Just goes to show what a real dumba$$ he was for such a stupid rookie mistake to bumpdraft in the corners. Duhhhh was he taking a nap during that part of the reminder by NASCAR?? So yeah Kev had every right to say what he did and if somebody put their hands on me, well they’d best be prepared for what happens afterwards.

What I want to know is how a all out brawl occurs in the State of NC and the police can’t interfere or make proper arrests for assault and battery?
NASCAR drivers are not above the law and someone should have spent time in jail over this incident..or all involved! Track and NASCAR officials should also be charged for not reporting it to the police. This wasn’t a publicity stunt even though Kevin tried to make it one after the Talladega race by shooting off his mouth.

  38. Well… as much as I like to give credit to good drivers (although NASCAR doesn’t *have* any poor drivers)… Carl Edwards is beginning to give me the creeps. Sure, he’s won alot of races… but so has Kyle Busch. Enough said.

Personality has as much to do with NASCAR drivers as does talent on the tracks.

I can’t help but hold up the track record and persona of someone like Mark Martin as a mirror into which these hotheaded, full-of-themselves momma’s boys might gaze into. Maybe they’d see how pathetic and embarrassing they look to the fans… and to everything that NASCAR stands for.

C’mon boys… it’s about racing… it’s about respect for your fellow drivers… and it’s about circumventing the ‘redneck’ reputation that alot of people associate with stock car events. Let’s prove the tight-asses wrong, shall we? Man-up, Carl… get a grip, Kyle…

    And Junior? It’s your turn, buddy… :)

Yea sure dynamite comes in a small package but it can’t top Nitro-glisarine. Harvick should mind what he says. He has to practicaly live with the guys he is fighting with. Harvick should be glad his coach driver was there to stop the fight. Edwards, should have let Harvick walk away like he tried to do, but no, he had to persue it further. I like both guys a lot and I think it should be taken behind the garage and then they could go on with their lives, bruised and battered, and respect each other more the next day, after they cool down. Good luck to both guys. I hope Nascar doesn’t put their noses in this and spoil it for everyone.

I’ve been a Law Enforcement Officer for almost 20 years now, and if the crime (misdemeanor) does not occur in our presence, and all parties involved know their offender, then they have the right to secure a warrant at the Magistrates Office. These guys don’t have the time for that junk, and furthermore, this kind of Mickey Mouse Fueding needs to be handled between themselves, definately not wasting the courts time and tax payers money!!!

The car owners should be fined $1,000,000,000.00 for being unable to control their employees. Nascar should hire some baby sitters. The police should be called and a complaint written and the courts should put them both in jail for failing to act human.

  76. I disagree with Lindsay, Batesville and BadBob but that is my right to do so. I, too, used to like Carl Edwards and I too, would have been extremely frustrated if I had been one of the six chase drivers who was screwed out of this chance to advance because of the bonehead move Carl made on Sunday and rook them out of the race. Kevin Harvick had every right to be angry because this cost him a spot in the standings as well as Dale, Jr. Like JR said, there are those who know how to bump draft and those who don’t. It seems to me for them to hold back and wait for the last few laps to make their move is dangerous, especially in a place like Dega. I have to believe Kevin was right this time. He is a good driver and a good sport for the most part. I don’t think Nascar should get involved. Tempers will flare, expecially during Chase time and these men should be able to work our their frustrations either in the garage or on the track. Sort of juvenile of Edwards to leave a note in Kevin’s plane rather than confront him.

  86. RACE TO WIN, AND I MEAN EVERY LAP ~ it is the basic premise of NASCAR. Carl Edwards played it safe (and there is one other that does it on occasion)by staying at the back of the pack to keep his car safe and out of trouble; decides to race only the last 25 or 30 laps then goes out there and causes a boat load of trouble, takes out contenders who had raced hard for every lap and they are the ones that have my respect, even though in the last moments there was no chance for them to win ~ I remember them as the valient drivers who gave it their all for the ENTIRE race ~ Carl Edwards is not among them! Just think, what if all 12 drivers decided to stay at the back of pack and lumbered along until the last few laps? How exciting would that be? NASCAR would not be able to give their tickets away and sponsors would be a distant memory. I certainly wouldn’t watch for hours only to have the last few minutes be the good part, my time has some value. As far as the “fight” goes – Carl Edwards should have sucked it up, taken the comment like a man, and LET IT GO! There was truth in the comment and therein lays the problem ~ he hated to hear it. I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure would like to see the race for the cup be raced hard every lap by every driver! Thanks.

However, for those of you who do not know it happened on PRIVATE PROPERTY and NASCAR CAN CALL THE SHOTS, PERIOD. Now, the IMPORTANT ISSUE HERE IS TO DOCK CARL EDWARDS FOR THE POINTS, BLAH,BLAH SINCE HE TOOK THE FIRST STEP OR ACTION TO THROW FISTS, THEN THEY COULD TAKE SOME POINTS AWAY FROM KEVIN, TOO. THE MAIN THING IS THAT BOTH OF THEM NEED TO GROW UP, ESPECIALLY EDWARDS, BECAUSE HE MAKES ALOT OF UNNECESSARY COMMENTS HISSELF, SO HE NEEDS TO JUST SHUT UP. When the shoe is on HIS FOOT IT NEVER FITS. I AM AND WILL ALWAYS BE A JR FAN AND LET’S REMEMBER WHEN HE GOT SO EXCITED ABOUT HIS WIN THEY DID WHAT—– OH, YEAH—-TOOK POINTS AWAY FROM HIM…SO WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE, AND IT WAS ALL ABOUT A CURSE WORD, GIMME A BREAK…..HE DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE THAT HE SAID IT. NASCAR should ALSO TAKE A LOOK AT BRIAN VICKERS WHO THINKS HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING HE WANTS, HE FITS IN THE SAME CLASS AS KYLE BUSH—–ALL CRY BABIES GET A GRIP AND RACE, LIKE DALE SR SAID IT’S RACING……..grammy 66

So hes takeing a new approach, just like everyone else has that is a great driver. Biffle said he wanted him to keep drafting him even in the corners, so lets put some blame on Biff, I don’t think anyone really is to blame, it was a big wreck, just as we always see there, I hate that Dale got taken out, but Dale was not blameing anyone, its raceing for the chase and almost all guys said this is one we will not win and will get in the wreck, so were counting this one off.so ease up on Carl, Kensith . He should have left well enough alone instead of pushing the issue. What ever happened to “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”

Carl may work out but he needs to stay away from Kevin because he could get very well get his _ _ _ kicked.

Kevin and Carl are like two 1st graders, still waring diapers….. Grow up and act like human beings proud to be doing what you love.

  114. Although Jr. has and always will be my #1 favorite, I also like many other drivers, including Kevin Harvick. I also like Carl Edwards, but after his huge big idiotic move at Talladega last weekend, taking out 8 of the 12 Chase contenders with my Jr. as one of the ones taken out, and to have been warned by NASCAR that bump drafting WOULD NOT be allowed in the turns, I am having my doubts about Edwards. Yes, I have always known he was, is, and always be a Mama’s boy. Anyone should have been able to see that from Day 1, but I always felt he was a good driver. I believe NASCAR SHOULD have removed points and also fined him for that move. For Edwards to remain in the very back of the entire race, then with 20 laps to go push his way forward and THEN pull a stunt like that deserves a ton of points be removed and a hefty fine as well. As for the garage incident, NASCAR should stay out of that one and let the 2 settle their differences in what ever way they feel it should be settled. As for the remaining Chase races left, gooooooooooooooooooooooo Jr. Love ya, honey!!!

[...] What about Kevin and Carl? Were you surprised how things turned out after the big fight? [...]

  116. Carl needs an attitude adjustment. He is getting to big for his britches. He has said things to that effect about other drivers and the other drivers have not reacted like he did. Nascar needs to step up and do something. Everyone knows that if it were anyone else besides a Jack Rousch driver, something would be done.

  118. To Sally G. You said Edwards and Harvick were like lst graders wearing diapers. If you will recall, Harvick did not start the altercation. Carl Edwards came to the garage loaded for bear. Edwards started this according to all reports and Kevin turned to walk away when Edwards shoved him. Why would you think Kevin was at fault? If NASCAR is going to step in all disagreements, all of which happen because of a driver doing something really stupid like taking out most of the chase field, then why would they allow a driver to lay back the entire race and make a dangerous move with a few laps to go. Seems that is something that really needs to be addressed by NASCAR. Dale Sr raced with his heart and raced to win and so does Dale, Jr. and JR being in the chase does not need some pinhead trying to come from the back like a raging bull and cause the big one. It’s over and there is nothing we can do about it but I would hope Kevin would nonchalantly take Edwards out on the track but I know he won’t because is is a gentleman and a good driver.

  122. Car Edwards should be extra careful because I think Kevin Harvick is sneaky and trying to cost Edwards points. Edwards could flaten Harvick with one hand…………Harvick is all talk but a real wimp when one gets down to it. His driver knows that which is why he jumped in quickly for “brownie points” with Harvick. Edwards is a man………Harvick is a m-o-u-s-e.

  124. NASCAR should stay out of this one. They already goofed giving and I do mean g-i-v-i-n-g an illegal race that poor Ragan Smith won to BIG BUY Tony Stewart…………because of that call several of us are not going to attend another NASCAR race, hopefully, this year. Already tore up tickets I purchased for Lowe’s in North Carolina and Martinsville this weekend.
