Danica Patrick Will be Good for NASCAR
Today Danica Patrick announced that she will drive a JR Motorsports No. 7 Chevrolet in 12 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2010.
“It’s been a long time coming, but the stars finally aligned for me with Go Daddy and JRM,†Patrick said about her 12 race deal for 2010. “I have always said I love to drive, and if I could make it work to race in both Indy Car and NASCAR then I’d love to drive in NASCAR!â€
Danica will be good for NASCAR.
And if she can run up front, lead laps and win a race that will be great for NASCAR.
She will bring more fans to the race track at a time when tracks need all the fans they can get.
She will bring more TV viewers that will bring more advertisers and sponsors. That only strengthens the sport.

Obviously, Dale Jr is thinking about increasing the fan base for NASCAR, and I think he’s right. Whether Danica can race this type of car remains to be seen, but I think it’s only fair (and smart) of Jr to give her a try. If she does well (give her time folks, you didn’t expect miracles with Juan Pablo or the other “crossover” guys), then it’s a win for Jr Motorsports. If she does not do well, Jr can take the high road and say that at least he was man enough to let her try. More than I can say for some of the fans.

I have always been an Earnhardt fan (Dad and Son) but this may be the limit for me. Can’t stand her in the IRL and I certainly will NOT support her in Nascar.

I think every sport should have some woman power! Jr. is looking for GOOD drivers and have a lot of potential, be it male or female.
Besides she has the knowledge and the experience. I’m happy for her and Dale Jr. as well
I’m a woman in her 70′s, drive a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS and can run in the 90′s if the troopers would let me.

Another example of why Dale Jr is such a special person.He is always willing to be the 1st in line to give somebody a chance.The odds may be stacked against her, but let her try iy, to see if its for her ,or not, then .Another thing is it’s one for the ladies!!!!Nascar is a mans sport, but a woman still deserves a chance to try it out.It may workout, or may not, We will see in the future. If I remember right, I think people said that she could race the cars she does now either.. Everybody deserves a chance.Proud of JR for being the one to go the extra mile, to make it happen….

Danica may last 2 lackluster seasons and will go back to the Indy cars to her equally lackluster career. If she didn’t look like she does, she’d never get the press or attention.

I think the nay sayers only have one major fear and that is that she will be successful in NASCAR. However, it remains to be seen whether she can keep her emotions under control in a sport where “beatin’ and bangin’” are part of the game.

I think Danica will be a great asset for Nascar, granted, she has a lot of learning to do, but I think eventually she will be just what the dr. ordered.!! She is ranked fifth in her league, ahead of some very experienced drivers and teams. She will do well and bring new and more fans to the sport. Now; if only NASCAR can get the officials out of the cars and pits and let the racers race. This is a free country and not the Soviet Union and the sport should be given back to the teams.
It is amazing what control you can take under the mask of safety. Put in the guidelines, test for power (tear down the engines) but stick the templates where the sun doesn’t shine, please !!!

only problem is , she needs a little attitude
adjustment and then she should do an good job.
It is good that she is starting out in Nationwide. Maybe she should have run a dozen or so ARCA races first then moved up. But who knows, give the young gal a chance to prove herself. She might surprise a whole lot of people, of course, maybe that is what some are afraid of.

Good for Jr. Dont tell drag racers that racing is a mans sport. Take a look[if you care to]at some of the Top Fuel and Funny car drivers. John Force was at Homestead for the last race and it would suprise me if we dont see his daughter Ashley Force involved in NASCAR in the future.

How negative can you get ???? How can you judge someone who you don’t know personally. I have to assume that you own a car and drive on the same highways as any other man, so why can’t she drive on the same track as any other driver ? Dale Jr. was looking for an excellent driver, be it man or woman, who can prove themselves.

Congrats to both Danica and Dale Jr. I’m usually a Jr. basher but I have to give kudos to Jr. for what I think is a good financial move and a move that will do the sport good. The people who hate her are going to watch the races to see her fail, the ones who love her will watch to cheer her on and others will watch to see how good she can or can’t actually do, and that will be good for the sport.

If you can afford a good tv you might have one with atleast 150 channels on it. Select one of the other 149 channels. Thanks, RJ, for posting Danica’s stats. Sounds pretty good to me and like he said sure better than some of the regular guys. It would not surprise me if she does very well and as far as her attitude, I’m not familiar with that, but I assume she will really try to win or at least do her best to continue to prove that females can compete with males in just about any sport. I have been looking forward to the time when women got into the sport at the Nationwide and Cup level. Some other ladies have been trying to work their way up and now maybe they will get a shot too. My concern is we do not know if Danica can trade paint, or as we say in the office, can she take a punch. I just hope she doesn’t replace my guy as the number one whiner.
