Dale Jr Takes the Pole

Dale Earnhardt Jr was the fastest qualifier tonight at Atlanta Motor Speedway grabbing the pole position for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500.

“It’s really, really fast you just gotta hang on,” said Earnhardt of his pole run. “When you can do it and do it right it’s pretty cool.”

Earnhardt turned a lap of 28.761 seconds at 192.761 to earn the top spot. He was he was .07 seconds faster than 2nd place qualifier Kyle Busch.

It was the fastest qualifying lap ever in a NASCAR COT.

The pole was the 9th of Earnhardt’s career, and the first since 2008 at Texas, 68 races ago.

    Randy…I was taught that if you can’t say something nice about someone…”SAY NOTHING AT ALL” Jr. earned the pole. The race hasn’t been run yet and you insist on using a negative view.

    It looks like “deb” has a handle on what has just happened. The QUICKEST, yes the FASTEST, lap ever, HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!! With that BRICK with 4 wheels, that punches a big hole in the air like the “SPACE SHUTTLE”. The bow tie engines were sure enough making some serious Horse Power. I know the “Pole” don’t win the race, the point is Jr. drove a great line to hit all his marks on the track. He has done his part so far, but a few things have happened (bad luck). I think Jr. has a focus now, and things are falling into place. The pole is only symbolic of what the car can do on an empty track. As we all know, it’s a long way to the checkered flag. We all know he can do it, shine on Jr.

    Dale Earnhardt holds the fastest race record time in Atlanta. He attained the record of three hours, three minutes with a speed of 163.633 mph in the 1995 NAPA 500.

    The late Dale Earnhardt holds the record for the most wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway with nine. He scored his most recent win at the track in the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 at this race in 2000.

    They say the acorn doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

    POSITIVE!!!!! Jr. got the pole….Jr. the fastest Qualifying lap EVER in a COT!!!!
    Happy hour….again one of the fastest…like 2nd…. He’s happy…we’er happy.. he even laughed.. every step ahead thats great..just the start. Every week up up & away to that win!!!
    Oh ya !
    How come when other drivers get the pole ..you turn on the computer(Nascar page) and there is there face so & so got pole..but this morning it was all about Kyle Busch and his truck team,nationwide,cup… I had to go to my email to read anything about Jr. Go Jr..we are all with you!
