Interview with Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr

Do you want to get an inside look at Dale Earnhardt Jr’s relationship with his Father? If so you have to watch this video.

You can listen to Dale Earnhardt say “People come up to me and say you’re Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Dad? Pretty cool.”

Dale Earnhardt also talks about what he hoped to see in his Son — and DEI — in the future “All I hope is you do well enough when I retire from driving I can be a nice comfortable car owner with a winning driver,” said the elder Earnhardt. Too bad it didn’t work out that way.

The two Earnhardts also debate who is the better driver.

“When I was his age I was a lot better than he is now,” The Intimidator said.

But Junior would not hear of that. “I think it’s the other way around – I think I”m a little better than he was at 23,” said Dale Jr.

Dale tried to give his Son some advice in a round about way that Junior might listen to it.

“I remember my dad telling me the dos and don’ts of life,” Dale Earnhardt Sr. said. “You never believe what your dad says, and it always came true.”

“I sorta let him learn it on his own and help it when it needs help. Hopefully we can keep the driver going in the right direction and everything will work well.”

    2. A wondful video, I just wish Sr. could see his son today but I am sure he is watching over him. Things would not have turned out as they did had Sr. not left us. Jr. is quiet, well manered and quite the gentleman and that is why he has such a following. A lot of people do not like Jr. for whatever the reason but in my book he is a wounderful person and I hope in 2009 he tears up the tracks and gets that championship he is so desirous of.

    4. I thought that was a very good article and video!! It make’s me miss Dale Sr. so much! It also was good to see them both together as father & son!! I know Dale cherishes those memorie’s! I know he is in a great place in his racing career, being with Rick at HMS!! I really look forward to the 2009 Season!

    7. Great, Great Video. I had the great pleasure of meeting Sr. several times. He loved, loved us fans. I just wonder what it would be like at DEI if Sr. had not left us. I think it would be a lot different than it is today. I’m sure it would be a championship team, Sr. would only have the best of everything and Jr. sure would not be at Hendrick, even tho I am greatful to Rick Hendrick for what he’s doing for Jr. Hopefully Jr. will get his first championship in 2009, that he so rightly deserves.     8. Great video…I still cry and get choked up when I see the father and son together. They both have played a major part of my life and will always be in my heart. Junior is ready for hia first Championship this year and we will be cheering him on each and every race in 2009……….

    9. My youngest daughter loves Dale, Jr and for her, I hope he does better than ever in the 2009 season. However, our guy is the one we hope wins a championship — with 5 wins in 2006, he should have been champioin then (under the old system, he would have). That driver is KASEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    VIDEO WAS GOOD.. HOW COULD IT NOT BE WITH DALE SR AND DALE JR IN IT!! :)
    I REALLY MISS SR ALOT AND I KNOW DALE JR DOES
    BUT AT LEAST HE HAS MR. HENDRICK TO LEAN ON FOR
    ALL THE PATS ON THE BACK AND SINGING HIS PRAISES!!

    it really is sad to have sr say i hope DEI does good and now it GONE!!

    i went to DEI when i was 6 and it was AWESOME!! now to know it’s gone just really stinks!

    14. You can bet your life that when Jr. went over to the crook Rick Hendrick, Sr. turned over in his grave in shame. Sr. liked Hendrick drivers to a point but it is a fact that he had no use for Hendrick because he know`s what happened in 1992 in NC court when Hendrick was charged with 74 counts of fraud. Three doctors took the stand and said Hendrick would be dead in less than two years because of cancer. You know the rest of the story ?
