Dale Earnhardt Jr Wins Michigan
Dale Earnhardt Jr did not have the fastest car at the start of the Quicken Loans 400. But 400 miles later he did as the No. 88 displayed in the No. 1 position on the scoring pylon. Earnhardt started the race 17th and quickly fell back to 25th.
But 11 laps into the race crew chief Steve Letarte called for a spring rubber and a chassis adjustment on the black, Batman sponsored No. 88 and the car came to like after that.
By lap 70 Earnhardt passed pole-sitter Marcos Ambrose for the lead and quickly pulled away.
Earnhardt took the lead for the final time on lap 172 and never looked back for the final 28 laps.
The crowd in the grandstands roared their approval until there were only 5 laps to go. That’s when an eerie silence fell over the speedway except for the sounds of the engines. Fans seemed to be holding their breath waiting for something bad to happen. It didn’t.
With the confidence Dale Jr has been showing in 2012, along with the consistent finishes, it seemed that he was on the verge of winning. Today he closed the deal.
The win sets Earnhardt up for a championship run as he now sits 4 points out of the lead.
With the “when are you going to win again” question answered by Junior his fans have another question to ask.
“When are you going to win again?”
What do you think of Dale Earnhardt Jr’s latest win?

GR8 things DON’t come easy!!
Never doubted you June-Bug! But I have held my breath alot & watched people (nerds) change drivers. To each his own, but loyalty is everything to me & you have mine. Don’t go to any kind of battle with someone that changes their preferences…when things don’t L@@K so good! You did ALL of us proud!! Now, the ones with waggin’ tails can choke on them or step on them, makes no diff to me. They will move on to something/one else to CRANK about.
Job WELL done!

OMG, what an exciting race today……..Dale Jr. won this race for Dale Sr.-what a wonderful Father’s Day Gift (I can picture that grin on Dale Sr. face). Everything went well for Jr. today, Great Car, Great Crew Chief, Great Crew and one of the best drivers in NASCAR–Today his car performed good for him, and the driver took her to victory lane………….think he could easily win the championship this year…………………

I was holding my breath waiting for NASCAR to throw some bogus caution to bunch the field up.

ONLY A SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN LIKE JR WOULD THANK HIS FANS FIRST BECAUSE WE BELIEVED IN HIM AND NEVER GAVE UP! JR NATION, CELEBRATION!!!!
GO BABY, GO! As HOWARD COSELL USE TO SAY ,” HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY,” oh and we didn’t need cautions to put us over the finish line! LOVE IT AND HIM!

I couldn’t watch the last 15 laps…..Today was Jr.’s day and the best day of my year! All the naysayers can go home now!!!!
[Reply]
It’s about time to lol. I was nervous the last few laps. The first thing I did was text my best friend with “JR WON!!!!!!!!”. I’m glad he didn’t win by a fuel strategy or something like that, he won by having a dominant car and led the most laps to top it all off. I just hope they can keep this consistent streak going for the whole year (knocks on wood). Congrats to the whole 88 team.

Although I’m not part of Jr Nation, I’m still glad he got this win. Doing it on Father’s Day, made it even more special. I fully agree with you on the Busch brothers, especially Kirt. His only problem is that he has no respect for the sport. If he can fix that, he should be ok, but I doubt he ever will. Anyway, I’m really happy for Jr.

Thank you Dale Jr., you just gave me another Happy B’day gift!! Good job by ALL!

I can honestly say that I am drinking my green kool aid and doing my 88 happy dance. Those last 10 laps were agonizing. Like many, I was praying that Nascar did not throw a caution for debris on the track or some idiot lose it on the track. I had fingers, toes, everything crossed and told my mom to let me know when there was only two laps left. I had my eyes closed praying. What an absolutely wonderful race on Father’s Day. Maybe they need to run a black 88 more often. I know that his daddy was riding shotgun telling him “you can do it son”. Congratulations to the whole 88 team and a huge thank you to Steve Letarte and the 88 pit crew and shop. Awesome car for an awesome driver. Now, we can really go after that Sprint Cup!!!!!!

I don’t know if this is good or bad about always talking about Dale Jr. Everytime I watch anything Nascar, like Race Hub, no matter what it is, it is about Dale Jr. When will he win, He’s driver good today, He’,s being careful, He’ll do this or he’ll do that. Almost win that race, ran out of gas in this race, Junior this, Junior that and frankly, I’m sick of it. Can they ever go through one program without mentioning his name or making a referrence toward him or his team or how Rick feels about him or his team or Stevie. It is like if he would die, Nascar would be over. Talk about the other 42 drivers and teams. God, enough is enough.

They do talk a lot about other drivers, some of which I dont’ care much for but have to listen anyway. Like how good the Busch brothers are or ‘Sliced Bread’. I guess we notice more when they talk about drivers that aren’t our favorites. I don’t mind at all when they talk about Dale Jr.

Hi all you Jr. nation admirers. We never gave up and we are considered the truest of fans. We can’t help but remind the naysayers that this is what it takes to be that type of fan, to go for weeks, months, and years without a win, but today it was well worth it. It seemed that Jr. was traveling on silk today. His handling of the car was so smooth and this reminded me of what a great driver he is. You certainly deserve this win, you never gave up and I’m sure that precious little lady waiting for you in the winner’s circle has added a lot of encouragement that helped you. Dale Jr is always my #1 pick every race too. Tony Stewart is another driver that I have always liked. I agree with you that Tony’s remarks were uncalled for. I can never recall Dale Jr making remarks like that about the race winner even when he has been disappointed for not winning. Tony had the chance to be a class act and did not chose to take advantage of the opportunity. Other drivers. namely Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth,Jimmie Johnson and others went and congratulated Dale Jr because they appreciated his struggle and the hard work he and the 88 team had to do to get to this win.Hopefully Tony will rethink his words because I believe he is better than them.

Well, well, well. I’m like many of you. Had to hold my breath. There was no sound in our house, but the announcers.
NOTHING HAPPENS BY CHANCE. GOD IS RIGHT THERE AT THE RIGHT TIME.
Were we even thinking when Jr./, crew chief, pit boys, and men back at the garage
predicted FATHER’S DAY?
I knew other teams would congratulate him as well, CLASSY RACERS & STAFF.
Can you see Sr. up above with that crooked grin he was so famous for? MY SON!

Congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for winning this big race. When i first heard he won i was just so happy that he won and i am a fan of him also because he won.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. deserves to get a gold medal or maybe somthing else in return for winning the race. If it was not for him i don’t know what would happen. And people who don’t like Dale Earnhardt Jr. just need to know that he just won and if you don’t like the famous racecar driver then you don’t have to at all. But Dale Earnhardt Jr. My congratulations goes out to you because you won the big race and you certainly have won my vote. Keep it up by promoting the new Batman movie by racing!
[Reply]
I have always liked Tony. And, he and Jr. were always good friends and drafting partners. But, evidently, something has gone awry in this friendship as this is not the first time Tony has made a disparaging remark about Jr. I don’t remember if it was last year or the year before,
but something happened on the track and Tony called Jr. a no-talent SOB. After yesterday, I think it is probably safe to say Tony & Jr. are not friends or so it seems. The announcers constantly talk about him being one of the greatest race car drivers, can drive anything anywhere. So, what happened yesterday to make Tony spout off like he did. Is it sour grapes or just the fact that he didn’t win like he thinks he should every race. Talk about being talked about all the time, listen up Barbara and badbob.
Perhaps he is your favorite driver and that is why you don’t want to hear about Jr. I think Tony is getting a little too big for his britches and is beginning to believe all the hype about him. Every driver thinks they should win as it should be, winning is why they are out there beating themselves up. And, as Jr. once said, racing is a cut-throat business and you really don’t have any friends.
But, he does have a group of guys that are his friends and many of them went to congratulate him with smiles on their faces. I believe Tony had to attend anger management classes a few years ago. Perhaps he and Kurt should attend together. Although he didn’t appear mad, I’m sure he was seething underneath that this no-talent driver beat him by over 5 seconds. Maybe being a owner/driver is becoming a little too much for Tony although he has always had a mouth but it didn’t bother me as he was always talking about something else. Now however, when he starts running down Jr. for being a winner with class, he is off my list. Indiana is a long way from the south and us southerners know class when we see it and hear it. Jr. was raised right, and as one writer put it, a true gentleman. It seems we grow them good here in the south. As for Amy, Jr.’s girlfriend, he made the comment that she is his strength. Good for you, Amy
he needs a good woman by his side. I saw her with him at the awards dinner in December, a beautiful young woman.
Whether he wins another race or not this year, he is in the Chase and has as good a chance as anyone. And, to all Jr.’s fans, yesterday was a national holiday!!!!!
[Reply]
And, I’m also tired of the talk that when Jr. wins, it was
SET UP! Give me a break. Do you actually think with the thousands of people that work for Nascar and all the drivers, the ones that don’t like him, would agree to a
set up? You’ve got to be living in another world and it sure isn’t Nascar! Find a home away from here…you will never deter his fans so just give it up.
[Reply]
Yes in deed the “heavens” celebrated as Dale, Sr. cheered for his son! I stopped breathing (I think) at lap 15 by lap 3 I covered my face with a shirt……please don’t let anythig happen Dale, Jr. has run this race like the true race car driver he is. Oh yes I am thrilled for him! if there ever was anyone who did NOT sit around and expect life to come to them because of their last name it is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. he has made his own! Not everyone would have his drive to do it on his own. He is #1 in my book win or loose. Good for you Jr. a win well deserved! Addie

good job junebug new you could do it well done love ya
[Reply]
Mike Helton said Jr. winning the race put that right up there with Sr. winning Daytona and Tony winning the championship. Is that why Mr. Stewart has his undies in a bunch. I thought he was being very sarcastic when he said he didn’t have anything to say about Jr. winning and wondered if they needed to go into mourning since he broke his streak. I don’t think he was rubbing the reporters, he sounded like he meant what he said. Even Knaus congratulated Jr. so what is your problem, Tony?
[Reply]
It was a great race to watch and listen to on the radio. As for the comments of Tony, he has always acted as though he was the best of the best and so he thinks that gives him the authority to bad mouth and say anything negative so just take his comments with a grain of salt and move on. His ego is as big as all the rest of the drivers and there isn’t anything that can be done about that.
