Dale Earnhardt Jr and Tony Eury Jr Discuss Strategy
Here’s a candid photo of Dale Earnhardt Jr and crew chief Tony Eury Jr apparently discussing strategy prior to Sunday’s Allstate 400 at The Brickyard. Photo Courtesy Hendrick Motorsports.
I hope this isn’t when the decision to stay out under caution when everybody else pitted for tires was made. That definitely didn’t work out so good. Dale Jr blew a tire and lost a lap in the pits. He had a fast car, but was never able to make up the track position — even after making up the lost lap. He finished in 12th.
What do you think?

I think you are right. That was probably the bad call of the race on their part. If had of worked out it would have been the best call of the race, but knowing what they did about the tire problems from practice, I say it was a bad call.
That probably was more of a problem then the slow pit stops, which in turn could have caused the slow pit stops. This could have lead to them taking 4 tires almost everytime while otheres were rotating 2 and 4 tire stops, to try and get a little more speed to get back up into the field.
They will do fine this week.
