Dale Earnhardt at a Loss for Words
Dale Jr & Girlfriend Amy Reinman | Photo
Dale Earnhardt had to climb out of his No. 3 Chevy and turn the wheel over to relief driver Mike Skinner in the 1996 Brickyard 400. Earnhardt was recovering from injuries suffered in a previous race and drove the car until the first caution in order to get credit for starting the race.
You can see the emotion on Dale’s face. He could hardly speak and very obviously did not want to give that car up.
On a side note – take a look at the people in the grandstands. They had a very impressive crowd that day.
What the video and you’ll understand how badly Dale wanted to race.

Some of today’s drivers should watch this video and learn just what a real dedicated driver is all about. Instead of losing his cool, he showed his true emotions and that is a lesson to be learned.
NASCAR has changed so much today and I really think some drivers need more than points or fines as a penalty. For those who continue to create problems and don’t follow the rules they should be given just two warnings and they are banned from racing. Get rid of the hotheads and start racing like men and not children.

Mamadew, I whole heartedly agree with you. What a good man he was. Some of the drivers of today are an embaressment to the sport.

Thank you RacingWin for this video. We were at Talladega and was sitting very close to the accident, when Dale got injured, we all thought he had been killed then, it was an awful wreck. I can still remember this race, that is the closest to tears, I believe I’ve ever seen Dale. Yes, he whole heartedly wanted to stay in that car. Like mamadew said, all these young drivers should have to watch this video, they would truly see what a REAL MAN is. Again I say, he was the best and no-one will ever fill his shoes, one of the kindess and most generous of anybody. He did so much that we will never know the extent of his helping hand . Dale was one of a kind. He will never be forgotten and shouldn’t. May his soul rest in peace. Love you, BIG MAN!!!!!

That’s right Herman. Nascar giveth and Nascar can taketh away. There would be NO sport here if it were not for Nascar. These young men started really showing off when JJ knocked the drinks off the top of his car after a victory. Now they think they run the show…..Sorry, Guys, you have gotten too big for your britches and the bank that provides your $$$$$$$$$$$. Let Carl go back to teaching and the rest follow him that wants to…..

Watching Clint Eastwood movies the night before the race to get psyched up for the race the next day. You know, that is a Man’s Man! Dale Sr. and Clint Eastwood, there’s a couple of fellows that walk their own path. I wonder which movies Dale watched that night?
“Outlaw Jose Wales”
“Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.”
“Dirty Harry”
” Get out of the way, Hammerhead.”
“Magnum Force”
“A man’s got to know his limitations.”
No one could have played the Iconic Hero parts like Eastwood could.
No one could be the Iconic Hero that Dale Earnhardt was and is.
P.S.
Aren’t we so glad that Frank Sanatra couldn’t get out of a commitment to play the
“Dirty Harry” part!!!!!!!!!!

Dale Earnhardt was and always will be the REAL racer.
He drove that car with all his heart and soul.
He is missed terribly and wish he was still with us.
A Dale Earnhardt Fan Forever.

What happened to the logic of Bill France, Jr. when he said “We don’t need you, I can find someone else to drive your car?” Bring back that, and maybe the drivers that continue to cross the line would think twice!!!

Greg, you mentioned what an impressive crowd they had that day, yes they did, but the crowd from last week at Indy was unbelievable, at least half the stands were empty. If Nascar don’t straighten themselves up, the stands will become empty. When Dale was racing, that’s what racing was all about, today Nascar chooses who they want to win the championship and that’s it, there is no racing to it, a few chosen few win races and evidently to Nascar, to hel- with the rest. Us fans are beginning to get tired of it. Bring back the true racers, if some of these young one’s can’t drive good enough to race then fire them, make racing worth watching. I think some of these drivers that drive on short tracks here in Georgia are better than some of those so-called drivers in Nascar. Nascar make it fair to all and see if racing don’t become better!!!!!

The secret word is dedication ….Dale Sr. was dedicated to his sport, his family and his fans. The difference between Dale and the drivers of today is just that…he loved what he did and remembered the people who got him there.
Today’s NASCAR is so different as when it was first born…If things don’t change and get better, everthing that the pioneers of this sport will be for naught.
