The NASCAR Hall of Fame is set to open in
Will Junior make the cut? Probably not. At least for now.
Who deserves to be in the first class inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame? Some of the favorites are:
- Richard Petty – 7 championships and 200 wins
- Bill France – Founder of NASCAR
- David Pearson – 105 wins, 2nd on the all time win list in 574 starts, and 3 championships
- Junior Johnson – 50 wins as a driver – 6 championships as a car owner
- Bill France Jr – Led NASCAR into the modern era
- Dale Earnhardt – 76 wins – 7 championships
Of course there are lots more deserving people in NASCAR, from Smokey Yunick to the Flock Brothers, Fireball Roberts and Red Byron.
Today’s stars like Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr stand a good chance to get in – one day. Just don’t look for it until their driving careers are over.
Who do you think needs to be in the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and why?
