Will Dale Earnhardt Jr make it to the NASCAR Hall of Fame?

The NASCAR Hall of Fame is set to open in Charlotte in 2010. NASCAR is quietly making plans to induct its first class into the hall.

Will Junior make the cut? Probably not. At least for now.

Who deserves to be in the first class inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame? Some of the favorites are:

  • Richard Petty – 7 championships and 200 wins

  • Bill France – Founder of NASCAR

  • David Pearson – 105 wins, 2nd on the all time win list in 574 starts, and 3 championships

  • Junior Johnson – 50 wins as a driver – 6 championships as a car owner

  • Bill France Jr – Led NASCAR into the modern era

  • Dale Earnhardt – 76 wins – 7 championships

Of course there are lots more deserving people in NASCAR, from Smokey Yunick to the Flock Brothers, Fireball Roberts and Red Byron.

Today’s stars like Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr stand a good chance to get in – one day. Just don’t look for it until their driving careers are over.

Who do you think needs to be in the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and why?

Have lunch with Dale Earnhardt Jr

Have you heard about the new candy bar Dale Jr is coming out with, the Big Mo’? Well, R.M Palmer Co, the candy bars manufacturer, is rolling out a contest to kick off the launch of the new candy bar. The contest is called “Your Big Mo’ment with Dale Earnhardt Jr Sweepstakes.

The Grand Prize is a “Weekend At The Race” package which includes lunch with Dale Earnhardt Jr and the Big Mo’ Posse, a tour of Junior’s race shop, and luxury box seats to the Coca Cola 600 and the Nationwide Series race at Lowes Motor Speedway in May.

The winner and 3 guests will be flown to Charlotte, picked up in a limousine, given 4 nights’ hotel accommodations at the Embassy Suite hotel, a welcome basket, $250 in spending money and the use of a rental car for the weekend. The estimated retail value of the prize package is $20,000.

The Big Mo’ candy bar was created with Dale Jr in mind. It has his favorite ingredients: chocolate, peanut butter and caramel – I can’t wait to try one. Enter the sweepstakes here
